Summary: A different ending to Fool For Love.

A/N: I was reading something about Fool for Love and all of a sudden inspiration hit me.   In my world Riley doesn't exist and Harmony and Spike aren't together. You know what Harmony won't exist either just for the fun of things. Or how about Riley and Harmony are dating but they are in Paris and Buffy and Spike don't even care about them.  Ok read the story now.

Spike walked down the road to the Summers' residence.  'That bitch is gonna get what's coming to her.' Spike thought as the rifle he was carrying bumped against his leg.

He walked slowly into her backyard. 'Good she's already outside' He thought when he saw Buffy sitting on the porch.  He didn't notice the tear marks that stained her face.  As he got closer to her, Spike could hear the sound of muffled sobs.  When Buffy looked up he knew that he couldn't go through with what he had planned to do.

"What do you want Spike?" Buffy said, tears evident in her voice.

"You all right, Slayer?" Spike asked ignoring her question.

Spike moved to sit down to Buffy, carefully letting the rifle drop.  He tentatively put an arm around Buffy.  Much to his surprise she leaned into the embrace.  Spike wrapped his arm tighter around Buffy offering her protection.

Buffy placed her head on Spike's shoulder. Allowing herself to be comforted.  When her tears subsided she looked up at Spike, but didn't make any move to pull away.

"Thank you, Spike." Buffy said.

"For what, luv?" He asked

"For staying with me, for being here." She said snuggling more into Spike's side.

Spike looked startled by her movement but only hugged her tighter.

"Anytime, pet, anytime." Spike said before laying a kiss on the top of her head.

Instead of being repulsed by the action Buffy lifted her head up and captured Spike's lips in soft kiss.  Spike responded to the kiss, pulling Buffy closer to him.

Buffy and Spike broke apart leaving Spike with a confused look on his face.

"It wasn't that I didn't like that, luv, but what was that?" Spike asked.

"That was me kissing you." Buffy stated simply.

"Why?" Spike asked, still not understanding.

"Because I wanted to," Buffy said, "because I wanted you."

"Well then I guess that's ok then." Spike said leaning in to kiss Buffy once again.

When the kiss ended, Buffy looked at Spike with a seriousness that hadn't been there before, "Spike, I like you, and I know that you love me but I don't love you now. I'm not saying that I won't but I just don't right now. I want us to be together, though."

"I want that too." Spike said, "Why were you crying earlier, luv?"

"My mom, she's not getting better.  If anything she's getting worse and she's at the hospital now and I don't know what I'm going to do." She looked like she was about to cry again.

"It's ok, baby, everything will be ok." Spike pulled Buffy into a reassuring hug.  "Let's get you inside, pet."

Spike guided Buffy into her house, both of them taking a seat at the island in the middle of the kitchen.  Buffy went about getting them drinks, as she sat down again she looked like she was going to cry again.

Spike reached across the table and took Buffy's hands in his.  Gently he placed kisses on her fingers.  "What did I say, you'll get through this and everything will be ok."

Buffy nodded as she moved closer to Spike, somehow she knew that he was right and everything was going to be ok.

A/N: OK I started this a while ago and randomly came across it so I decided to finish it.  Sorry if it wasn't that good. The inspiration I had felt for this story kind of left when I stopped writing it. You all know how that is. PLEASE REVIEW.
