(Heylo all. Sorry that this isn't an update on any of my fics, but I promised my good friend Jules I'd answer her challenge, and hey, I really wanted to. Her challenge was to write a Paige/Cole fic. She really loves this couple, and although it's not my fave in the world, I quite like this short little one-shot I made up just for her.

So, dedication to Kiseki-no-neko, or Jules as I like to call her.

You can like it, hate it, I really don't care. You can review or flame. Doesn't matter to me. But I'd prefer if you read it first before banging down my door and coming after me with torches and pitchforks. Much appreciated. Thanks a lot.)

Happily Ever After

Enough-

Paige Matthews started out of the door of the fuchsia manor she called home. She called back to her two sisters, "I'm going out for a little while you guys, call me on my cell if you need me, alright?" Piper nodded and waved as she headed into the conservatory to check on Chris (for the umpteenth time), and Phoebe shouted good-bye from upstairs. Paige tried to smile back at them, but ended up closing the door quickly and rushing down the stairs towards her green BMW.

As she drove down the street, she sighed with relief to be out of that house. She loved her sisters dearly, but what she was hiding was not something that was easy to keep locked up. She was seeing Cole.

Not dating as in seeing. she told herself as she turned to park in a nearby parking lot. Just seeing. Are you mad? asked her conscience. You're running away to see him on a daily basis, and you're kissing him whenever you can! JUST SEEING? Oh gods. If I can't even admit it to myself, how the hell am I going to admit it to Phoebe and Piper?

Shaking this thought off as she parked neatly between the lines, she took a deep breath and orbed out, her body disappearing in a rush of blue and white lights. Her body reformed in the same rush of lights outside a strangely familiar mausoleum.

Yes, Cole was back. How, she didn't know, she didn't want to know. She didn't want to know about the countless souls he must have stolen from to come back, the nameless demons he killed to come back, the innocent faces he must've murdered to come back. All she knew is that she loved him and he loved her. And that was enough. In fact, it was more than enough.

Stepping through the stone archway that led into the musty old mausoleum, she gasped slightly as an arm wound round her waist. Immediately recognizing who was holding her, she relaxed and leaned against him. Listening to his heart. The thing that made him what he was, who he was.

He tilted her head slightly, and kissed her feverishly, as though it would be their last kiss ever. She responded and they pulled away breathless.

"It'll never work you know." were the first words out of her mouth. She immediately wished she could take them back, but they were out on the table now, and as hard as she wished otherwise, they were true.

"Who says?" asked Cole, still not letting go, though Paige wasn't protesting. Paige almost began to laugh at this question. It was ridiculous. Their love, this hiding and running at every opportunity, who says it wouldn't work? Life, magic, sisters, demons...

"Fate." replied Paige dully. "We'll never make it, we'll never have a life together, we'll never have a happily ever after." She could feel Cole smirk after the last statement.

"Happily ever after? I don't know about you, but I'm happy." With that, he kissed her again, and as they broke apart and Paige relaxed in his arms and silently agreed. Yes, she was happy. Who needed a fairy tale ending when you had love? Yes, she reaffirmed. She was very happy. And that was enough.
