Sound the Bugle

A one shot fic by Digitaldreamer

Yes, yes, I know I haven't written in like, forever. Truly sorry. Lord of The Rings kind of took over my life. But thanks to my good ol' KH RPG and a bit of reading of Rem-chan's fic, Court of Souls ((If you haven't read it, GO READ NOW, it is the BEST Kingdom Hearts fanfic you will EVER read.)) I'm back on mah KHy track.

Buuuutttttt there's a problem. I managed to get myself grounded for the rest of my summer vacation. I'm currently sneaking on now. Great eh?

Yes, I know. Wonderful. I'm currently using my mom's comp. So I really don't think I should be written things like Broken Rainbow on her comp.

So instead of a nice angsty Broken Rainbow chapter you've been waiting for, you all get this little angsty piece. I hope you all like it…

…I'm reeeaallly sorry!

"Sora………don't ever change…"

That's what you said…………

Rain. Falling in a constant downpour, so thick…a wall of water. Rain drops creating a masterpiece of ripples upon the puddles that flooded the cobblestone streets. Striking wooden benches and sliding down to join with others, to reflect the flickering neon lights adorning buildings and lampposts.

Do you……remember?

What it was like…

…before?

Lighting flashing across the sky, momentarily illuminating dark alleyways, revealing crates left there, forgotten. Crushed cans, newspapers wilting in the rain, broken things left to rot…

………the rain…

…are you……

…crying?

Thunder rumbled, the storm screaming its rage to all whom could hear.

"I'll come back to you! I promise!"

…do you remember?

…I promised…

…But…

…I don't think…

A young man walked through the storm, head down. The pouring rain made his crown of chestnut brown spikes seem to wilt, like a dying tree. Bangs overshadowing hallow sapphire eyes, staring into an abyss none could see.

………I'm so…

…sick of it all…

He could have pulled the hood of his black jacket over his head, but he didn't. He didn't seem to notice the icy droplets that soaked him though, seemed to chill his very soul, his very being, his heart,

Of course……he didn't have a heart anymore, so that wasn't really a concern, now was it?

…I just…

…want………

…can't they see…

……so tired of it all…

"Skreeeee!"

A truck skidded around the corner. Its wheels created a wave of dirty water that splashed up and drenched the already soaked man. He blinked for a moment, shook his head slowly, and continued on.

………I'm sorry…

…I don't think…

…I'll be able…

…to keep my promise.

He'd have to get back to the hotel soon. The others would be getting worried. They really shouldn't have, he wasn't stressed, nothing was wrong, he could do this, nothing was wrong, he was fine….

……of course, he never was a very good liar.

The rain…

Falling………

Falling………

Out of control…

Spiraling………

Falling………

…………I'm fine.

……not hurting……

……just fine…

…falling…

……breaking……

The rain poured, and the man looked up at the sky, felt the icy drops of rain hitting his face.

…………like the tears I can't shed………

……have to be strong…

"Sora……don't ever change…"

That's what you said…………

The man looked back down again and turning on his heels, began heading back towards the hotel, black boots splashing in puddles that reflected neon lights. His mouth twisted into a small, broken smile.

"Kairi……….what would you think of me now?"
