A/N: Hmm, not a popular pairing I'm writing about, but it's apparently... canon? I know, how shocking. Or, at least, it's one-sided canon. Ah well. Would love if you left a review... even if this is a mite sappy. =P
Comic Book Cliche
I couldn't help the fact that I couldn't stop thinking about him. It was a horribly cliched situation, a soap opera situation as old as humanity. The bad girl in love with the good guy. It was like something out of a comic book. Batman was in love with Catwoman, Yazuha was in love with Yosho (1), and I was in love with Cyborg.
It had been alright for a while. But I had thought he was Stone for most of that time. And, in a way, he was Stone, not this Cyborg person. He became the part, and probably would've remained it if his friends had never appeared. Towards the end, I could tell he wasn't who he said he was, but I didn't care. Stone, Cyborg, by any name I still would've fallen for him. It's like that thing Shakespeare said all those years ago in one of his plays about a rose being a rose no matter what the name.
I'm not quite sure how it happened. The original intent was to humiliate him as much as possible, since he was the new guy. Especially after he bested us during combat testing his first try at it. The Headmaster punished us, and we hated him. The initiation rite was only an excuse to get back at him. We hadn't really initiated him. Or meant to. But somehow during that time we walked down the hall together, him, blushing behind me in a pink dress, me smiling pleasantly and holding back guffaws, he was initiated. And I was crazy about him.
I remember when we were studying for our World Domination exam together, sitting in my room on the floor with our books and notebooks spread around us. He was furiously highlighting a portion of his notes, and I was pretending to read through some definitions we had to know. I was watching him, of course. I turned a page of my notebook, and in a casual tone mentioned the dance that was coming up. He smiled, and said he had heard about it. He then looked up from his notes and asked me if I would like to go with him. And of course I was delighted to. But I just smiled brightly and said that it would be lovely to do so.
Gizmo glared at us the entire dance. He was insanely jealous. He shouldn't have wasted his time, what did he expect to happen when all he ever does is called people snot-nosed? He may be part of my particular class fighting unit, but that by no means means that I enjoy his company. His immaturity grates rather heavily on the nerves after a while. And he had never gone through the hallways wearing a bubble-gum pink dress with me. Even Mammoth had a better chance than he did.
"You're still thinking about him, aren't you?" Speak of the devil. I look up from my Engineering for Young Evil Geniuses book to see Gizmo almost sneering at me. I scowl deeply, "Of course not. He betrayed us." He tosses his head, "Hmph, always knew that the snot-face would. I never liked him."
"Seems like you're the one who can't stop thinking about him."
"Are you implying something?"
"Gizmo, go away. I'm studying, something you need to do before you cause all of us to be punished by the Headmaster!"
It's his turn to scowl, "Yeah, well... you need to work on your Alpha formation!" He buzzes out of the room in a huff, leaving me alone with my textbook and thoughts.
I always hate it when people are so right...

(1) Yuzuha and Akihito are from Tenchi Muyo. Yazuha was an evil demon of some sort who developed a crush on Yosho, who was a young prince of an alien planet. It made sense to make a reference to a manga/anime, given that Teen Titans definitely has influences from that school of animation.
