Sam/Jack, Cassie, post-Heroes, pg
Summary: Cassie's moving in with Sam. This complicates things…
Author's Notes: Set sometime after 'Heroes'. Sam/Jack relationship. Silly. The title is thanks to Jess, it means 'thud' or 'thump', or 'the beating of the heart' in Japanese.
"Cassie's moving in with me."
"I thought she would. That's a good idea."
"We have a problem."
"Yes. We do."
"What are we going to do?" she asked him, as they were sitting together on her couch later that evening.
"I'm not sure," he replied, swirling the beer around in his bottle. "This complicates things."
"Yes, it does."
"Maybe we could tell her?" Sam suggested.
"What about Daniel and Teal'c? If we tell Cassie we pretty much have to tell them too."
They sat in silence for a while longer, until Jack spoke up. "We'll just have to be even more careful. We're already used to sneaking around."
"True," she answered, thoughtfully.
Silence took over again.
"And then finally she should figure it out for herself, and that'll save us from telling her?" she questioned, hopefully.
"Yes. That's a possibility."
"Cassie! Where do you want this one?" Jack called out, almost hidden by the huge box he was carrying. They'd been moving Cassie's boxes into Sam's house for the better part of an hour, and hadn't even made it upstairs yet.
"Just dump it here, that's fine," Cassie replied. "Well I don't know about you two, but I could sure use a drink of some sort."
"You two carry on unpacking, and I'll sort it out. Drink, Sam?" he asked, instinctively.
"Since when do you call her Sam?" Cassie asked him as he retreated into the kitchen.
"New habit," he replied, poking his head out the door.
"And since when does he know his way around your kitchen?" she asked Sam, as they climbed the stairs to her new room.
Sam simply smiled, and called out, "Whatever you're having would be great, Jack!"
"I should go."
Sam glanced at the clock. "Already?"
"She'll be getting up soon, and we don't really want her finding out about us by seeing me sneak out in the early hours of the morning."
She hopped out of bed and grabbed her dressing-gown, the morning air giving her a slight chill. She'd give anything to be back in Jack's warm arms. He dressed quickly, and took her gently by the hand as they quietly walked out of her room. The house was silent save for their soft footfalls as the morning light attempted to bypass the think material of the curtains. Naturally, Jack managed to bump into something.
He cursed, as Sam attempted to stifle a giggle.
"Sam?" Cassie's sleepy voice called out. She came out of her room, rubbing her eyes, which consequently widened when she saw who was in front of her.
Sam and Jack looked at each other. Well at least she knew now.
They had a lot of explaining to do.
