As Mai arrived at the game shop that Yugi lived above, she realized this was a bad place to tell Joey something so personal. Then she saw him. The man she loved, Joey Wheeler, striding toward the game shop. She jumped out of her car, ran over to him, and hugged him. Blushing in realization of what she'd done, she pulled away and said "Just a friendly greeting for a great friend." But both of them knew it was more than that, and were still too nervous to admit it.
"Oh, Joey, I called Yugi to let him know we'd be coming," Mai said. "He said he had somewhere to go with his grandfather, but he'd be back soon, so we could wait out front or at the Burger World down the street. Where do you want to wait?"
"Right where I am. Well, after I sit down on the steps, that is," Joey said.
"Ok, I'll sit down beside you," Mai said.
"So, what did you have to tell me?" Joey asked, though he already knew the answer.
"Joey, I… I… oh, god, how to put this… I like you," Mai replied.
"You mean… like like?" Joey asked.
"I mean 'absolutely crazy about you' like," Mai replied.
"Wow. I… uh… I… uh… I like you, too, Mai," Joey said, turning away so she wouldn't see how red he was from blushing.
"oh… wow. Really, Joey?" Mai said.
"Really," Joey said.
