they saw a bird with iridescent wings
and abel said
"o bird o bird o

is your song
as joyous as your plumage"

the bird sang and o
the tree
rustling and the river
rushing were
ashamed for this was sweet singing great sweet singing

such a glorious sound:

cain saw the wings the wide wings
that held all
the colors he could remember

and he said
"o bird o bird o beautiful bird
i want your wings for my own
for i would like to fly
and they are so beautiful"

and he took a sharp stone and

stilled its song

but it did not give him flight.
