Disclaimer: Don't own "NewsRadio", otherwise, I would be making more episodes, and not writing stories about it.(Curse you NBC!)

I wrote this as a journal entry for my college English class. My teacher loved it. I hope you love it, too. And to say that you did (or didn't, doesn't matter. Flames make me stronger cause they let me know what areas I suck at), leave a review. Please. Thank you.

Dave had been lying in bed for a good two and a half hours. He knew it was late, but he couldn't stop thinking about it. Why did he do it? Did he really believe what he had told her? That they needed to focus on work more than their relationship? And now, she was gone. Married and in another state. Sure, he said he would give her three to five years before she realized the huge mistake she made, but she couldn't actually think that he would wait that long. Or that he was that serious about it.

As he turned to his side, to get more comfortable, he heard the phone ring. 'Who in their right mind would call me at this hour?' he thought. 'Who would call me, period?' it too him a minute before his brain reached a conclusion. It was probably Matthew again, wanting to tell him the story of how proud he was that his new cat finally learned to use the cat box, and not the couch. Dave sighed. 'Let the answering machine pick it up. Matthew can tell me that story tomorrow, when I can properly tune him out.' The phone rang a few more times, and Dave heard his own voice on the recording.

"Hi, this is Dave. I can't come to the phone right now, so leave your name, number, and a brief message, and I'll get back to you as soon as I can. Bye."

'Yeah, right,' he thought. He closed his eyes, and tried to sleep when a familiar voice came up.

"Um… hi, Dave. It…it's Lisa." Dave got up and walked to the answering machine. He could hear Lisa berating herself over the phone. "God, this is so stupid… Right, ok. Dave, I'm just calling to… what I wanted to say is…" She sighed. "Dave, I'm sorry. You were right. And I thought that you should be the first to know."

"The first to know what?" he asked out loud. The was a long pause before Lisa spoke again.

"I left Johnny."
