Times Like These
Author: Pumpkin Belly
Summary: It was times like these when Dawn knew, more than anything, that she loved Andrew.
A/N: Words in Italics are part of the flashback.
Dawn looked over at Andrew and sighed. She had guessed that he would fall asleep before midnight. He usually did but it was New Years Eve. He looked so young and innocent when he was sleeping, though. She didn't even want to wake him up.
Dawn ran her fingers through Andrew's hair. He had been growing it out so it was no longer close to his head. There was some length to it. She liked it when it was longer. It was times like these when Dawn knew, more than anything, that she loved Andrew.
They had been dating for almost a year, sleeping together for 4 months, living together for 3. In all that time Andrew felt like he had to protect Dawn. At first Dawn had thought it was cute, and then it became annoying.
"Andrew, you don't always have to be the strong one." Dawn sighed.
"Isn't that what I'm suppose to be?" Andrew asked bewildered, "The guy is suppose to be the strong one in the relationship."
"It doesn't always work like that. Relationships are give and take. Sometimes you're the strong one and other times you can let yourself just breakdown and cry while I hold you." Dawn explained.
"I've never been very good at the whole girlfriend stuff. I've never really been good with girls in general." Andrew confessed.
"Hey, you got me." Dawn smiled.
"Dawn you're really the only "girlfriend" I've ever had." Andrew said.
"So?" Dawn asked.
"I just don't know what I'm suppose to do." Andrew threw up his hands in frustration.
"You're supposed to be you. Not some mucho guy that thinks he's the "man"." Dawn said. Her tone lightened, "I love you just the way you are, Andrew, don't try to change yourself."
That had been that. Andrew had lowered his barriers, but not fully. At least he was still the same guy she fell in love with. He was still a geek at heart that obsessed about comic books and didn't see anything wrong in that.
Dawn was still absently running her fingers through Andrew's hair when he woke up. A small smile on his face, the way it is every time he wakes up and finds Dawn next to him. It's like a surprise to him that she's still there, that she hasn't up and left him in the middle of the night.
"What you thinking about?" Andrew mumbled, his voice still groggy with sleep.
"You." Dawn said sliding down next to him, allowing Andrew to cradle her in his arms.
"Me?" Andrew asked suspiciously.
"Yup." Dawn nodded, "I really like you." She laughed.
"Good because I really like you too." Andrew said kissing her lightly on the lips.
"Hey," Andrew said when he pulled away, "It's 12:00. Happy New Year." He whispered kissing Dawn again.
"Happy New Year." She sighed happily. It was going to be a good year.
A/n: Happy New Year everybody. I'm really not sure about this story. Can't tell if I like it or not. But I wanted some Dawn/Andrew fluff and I couldn't find any so I wrote some myself. Please tell me what you think. Good or bad.
