Harry entered the Great Hall for lunch, a nervous feeling in his stomach. He was somewhat scared to do what he had decided, but there was no way to back out now. Not after what had happened. Propositions had been made, as well as promises, and he owed it to himself to make sure that the promises were not broken. This was something too important.
He barely listened to what Ron and Hermione were saying during lunch, instead concentrating on his plan. Harry looked across the Great Hall. There was Malfoy, his light blond hair glinting as he turned his head. Perhaps –
No. After all that had passed between him and Malfoy, Harry had to do it. There was no backing out now.
A lump in his throat, he set down his glass of pumpkin juice and walked to the Slytherin table, his heart pounding in his chest.
Malfoy had apparently just said something funny; Crabbe and Goyle were laughing their thick, stupid laughs. Harry braced himself and cleared his throat. "Draco."
Malfoy turned his head; upon seeing who stood behind him he sneered. "What the bloody hell do you want, Potter?"
"I need to talk to you," Harry said. "It's important."
"It's lunch, Potter," said Malfoy. "Go eat dung like you usually do."
"It's about us," said Harry. "About our baby."
Pansy Parkinson looked up and dropped her fork.
Malfoy stared. "Potter, what in the hell did you just say to me?"
Once Harry began to speak he knew he couldn't stop. "Draco, I'm pregnant. We can't pretend anymore. I'm pregnant with your child, and I'm going to raise it. I know we're young, I know it's not going to be easy, but you'll make a great dad, you really will." He took another breath. "I'm not after your money, and I'm not after your name. All I want is for you to help me raise our child."
The clattering of dishes and chattering of voices had grown quieter, though it continued. Half the Slytherin table were staring at Harry in shock.
"You love me, Draco," Harry whispered. "I know you do. Every time you tell me I see the truth in your eyes."
A brilliant shade of red appeared on Malfoy's face. "Get out of here, you freak!"
Tears filled Harry's eyes. "But Draco, after you told me you would always love me, how can you reject both me and the baby?"
Malfoy stared. "Get away from me, Potter" he shouted, causing the entire Great Hall to turn their heads to see what was going on.
Harry threw himself at Malfoy's feet. "Draco, I want to raise this child with you! This child was created of our love! Remember, remember how we held each other after making passionate love - "
Malfoy ran out of the Great Hall as fast as he could.
Harry sat back down at the Gryffindor table. "Pay up, Hermione."
"I didn't think you'd really do it," said Hermione, rummaging in the pockets of her robe for five Galleons.
"I did" said Ron. "Great idea, by the way, Harry, where did you get it?"
"Some piece of crap on the Internet," Harry replied.
