Disclaimer: Olivia Benson isn't mine. Neither is the song 'Dark Lady' Cher sang it, I'm not sure who wrote it (I could look it up, but I'm feeling lazy)
Author's note: I don't know, don't ask. And yes, I am aware that most of the world thinks Cher sucks, and that I'm the only 15 year-old girl who listens to Cher. (I know she doesn't write her own songs, and she isn't my favorite, but at times, her weirder songs suit my mood)
'Dark lady laughed and danced and lit the candles one by one'
Olivia Benson stared at the tea leaves in the bottom of her cup and mused at an old child's game… or was it an old gypsy's tale? Some sort of fortune telling ritual.
'Danced to her gypsy music 'till the blue was done'
It'd been a rough day; another kid got killed in the city last night. And neatly too, a careful couple of incisions on her neck, each a centimeter long, and right over the jugular.
'Dark lady played black magic 'till the clock struck on to twelve.'
She glanced at her saucer. Why not, she flipped the cup, hoping she wouldn't manage to drop the staining bits onto her couch.
'She told me more about me than I knew myself.'
Melinda said the child died quickly, but the methodical nature of the crime was too disturbing for words. The prep had it all planned out, it was so deliberate, calculated. A true sociopath, that was for sure.
'So I ran home and crawled in my bed, I couldn't sleep because of all the things she said.'
She squinted at the leaves a hundred ways, but no matter what way she turned it, she couldn't see a flower or a bell or a dog, all she could see was the face of a dead little girl with pretty brown curls. Olivia Benson wept in the silence of her apartment for a little girl she never met and a gypsy fortune-telling game that wouldn't let her forget.
Weird, no? A product of my mind, what more can I say. I wrote this a while ago, while I still watched SVU (the new episode is on now, and I'm not watching it. Too many nightmares...) Anyhow, this is probably one of the last SVU pieces I'll write(I hadadifferentpenname with some dead stories) (I know no one cares)(If I write any others, they'll have nothing to do with the cases, probably just parody or something)
