Disclaimer: I do not own Teen Titans, yada, yada, yada.

Neither of them knew it, but the other was thinking of them.

Maybe that wasn't the best way to start. I believe that the best way to start a piece of writing is with a quote. So here's one.

We cherish our friends not for their ability to amuse us, but for ours to amuse them

- Evelyn Waugh

He didn't know it, but she was thinking about him

Even as Raven read this quote she found her eyes drawn to him. Did she amuse him, she wondered? As he sat there, reading a comic book, she found herself wondering if he even noticed her half of the time.

She looked at the quote again. Was that true? Did she care for him because she wanted to make him happy?

It didn't sound right. Raven frowned and considered the quote, trying to look at it from a different point of view. His point of view. Did he care for her, because he was always trying to make her laugh? Was that why he was always seeking her out, trying out his latest joke on her?

Maybe. But then again, maybe not. Maybe he was just… him.

And yet he always did make her laugh. Well, she didn't show it, but inside she was giggling insanely. Just to see the hopeful expression on his face when he was telling a joke. Enormous green eyes filled with humour, mouth stretched into a grin, excited stance….

He fascinated her.

She didn't know it, but he was thinking about her.

Beast Boy glanced at her from the corner of his eye and then quickly back down at his comic. He had no idea what was going on with the plot of the book, since he had been thinking about her for the past twenty minutes. Why did that always happen when they were alone together? It didn't used to be this way. It used to be nice… comfortable. They could sit together in silence and be at peace.

And then came hormones.

Suddenly everything changed. Raven wasn't just a team member. She wasn't just a friend. Now she was female. Now she was mysterious and cool and… pretty.

He found himself striving extra hard to make her laugh. Thinking up jokes that made the other Titans collapse with laughter, but never caused a smile to grace her lips. But, occasionally, they would catch each others eyes and a small, secretive would pass between them.

And Beast Boy was fascinated.

Raven got her feet.

"I'm making tea. Do you want anything?" She asked. Beast Boy shook his head.

"I'm good, thanks Raven." He said with a smile. As she went to the kitchen, he glanced at the book she had been reading.

A book quotes. Weird, yet distinctly Raven. He picked it up and scanned the page she had been on. A quote caught his eye.

We cherish our friends not for their ability to amuse us, but for ours to amuse them

OK, had someone sneaked into his head? Because that quote was way too much like him for him to be comfortable with.

Was that why he cherished her? Because he tried to make her laugh. This made little or no sense, he decided.

He put the book back, but the quote kept running through his head.

Raven glanced over at him as she poured her tea. She had seen him look at the book and then return to his comic book. She wondered if he had seen the quote.

She went and sat back down in her seat next to him. He looked up as she sat and nodded at the book.

"Looks quite good. Is it?"

"Yes. Fascinating." She said with a brief smile.

And they started to read again.

Neither of them knew it, but the other was thinking of them.

A/N: OK, I have no idea what that was. I just happen to keep a book of quotes by the computer (you never know when you might need one) and I was glancing through it and that one looked interesting. So I figured I might as well twist it around into Raven/Beast Boy goodness! Lol, tell me what you think.
