Don't Turn Around Song by - Ace of Base

Spirited Away (Sen to Chihiro no Kamikakushi) - All Respectful Owners, Not Me.
Fanfic - Yume Lynne-Chan

As Haku looked into the dark eyes of Chihiro behind him as he ran her to where her parents were. They were sorrowful.

(Don't tell me you wanna leave)

"There's no water," she said. "But I can't go any farther." The words he wanted to say were locked deep inside.

If you wanna leave
I won't beg you to say
And if you gotta go darling
Maybe it's better that way

"Will we meet again sometime?" she hopefully asked. "Sure we will," he said, holding her hand tighter. "Promise? "Promise. Now go, and don't look back," he uttered as he held her out. She nodded and ran off, leaving his hand lingering. A deep lovelorn sigh escaped the soft lips of the river-spirit.

I'm gonna be strong
I'm gonna do fine
Don't worry about this heart of mine
(Just walk out the door
See if I care
Go on and go), but

He saw her stop. He whispered:

Don't turn around
'Cause you're gonna see my heart breaking
Don't turn around
I don't want you seeing me cry
Just walk away
It's tearing me apart that you're leaving
I'm letting you go
But I won't let you know
I won't let you know...

A small smirk formed at the side of his lips as she continued to run. He sighed again and traveled to where Kamajii was unknowingly. He remembered when Chihiro had risked her life to save him. He could still feel her warmth.

I won't miss your arms around me
Holding me tight
(Holding me tight)
And if you ever think about me
Just know that I'll be alright
(I'll be alright)

"Hello, Kamajii. Rin." He said gently as he passed through there to see how they were. His heart ached when he saw Rin and recalled when Chihiro's name was Sen and how she was working with the older girl.

I'm gonna be strong
I'm gonna do fine
Don't worry about this heart of mine
( I will survive
I'll make it through
I'll even learn to live without you)

When he traveled out, he let his beautiful dragon form overtake him. The Spirit of the Kohaku River. He flew up and saw Chihiro's car drive away. He would never see her again. He knew it. Tears flowed quietly down his face as his heart hurt more and he called her name.

Don't turn around
'Cause you're gonna see my heart breaking
Don't turn around
I don't want you seeing me cry
Just walk away
It's tearing me apart that you're leaving
I'm letting you go
But I won't let you know

"Chihiro!" he called, then quickly silenced himself. He was perched on top of Yubaba's bathhouse, after all. His soul desired to scream its words of truth. 'I love you, Chihiro,' he thought, the tears not stopping.

I wish I could scream out loud
That I love you
I wish I could say to you
Don't go

Chihiro looked back through the car window to where the object of her love resided. "I'm sorry. I should have turned around. So I could have seen you again," she muttered. "I love you, Haku."

(As he walks away
He feels the pain growing strong
People in your life
They don't know what's going on
Too proud to turn around
He's gone)

They both whispered the same words to each other, unbeknownst to the other:

Don't turn around
'Cause you're gonna see my heart breaking
Don't turn around
I don't want you seeing me cry
Just walk away
It's tearing me apart that you're leaving
I'm letting you go

Baby, don't turn around
Don't turn around
Just walk away
I'm letting you go

Neither ever found out about the other's love.
