A/N- This is a one shot I'm writing for my friend. We exchanged plots that we were required to write about. I'm an avid Draco/Ginny fan and she knew this would be painful for me! Cruel woman! Oh and if I get enough reviews I might add a chapter later.
She peeked over the edge of her Quibbler to look at him. He was staring again, his grey eyes burning with intense longing. It was her Quibbler, though, and she didn't care how badly he wanted it! An owl delivered it every morning at her expense! Maybe he wasn't so rich after all…
A pang of compassion struck her heart. The poor boy had been staring at it every day like a lovesick puppy. Why couldn't she share? She was not strapped for galleons after all, she should learn to be generous.
Her eyes… her beautiful eyes! Luna Lovegood had to be the most dazzling witch he'd ever hoped to meet. His heart skipped a beat when he saw her get up and head towards him. She walked as smoothly as a donkey and she had the elegant air of a piece of hyena liver. God- his insides were bursting with joy!
She sat down across from him and they stared at each other for a few minutes. He was lost, hopelessly lost in her eyes. Gulping, he said, "D-Do you have a map? 'Cause I'm…um, lost in your eyes." There he said it and braced himself for her reaction.
Luna wished she had a map for this young man; he seemed so frightened. She had read about this sort of magic in random books, nothing serious, so she wasn't sure what to make of it. Now she was afraid to close her eyes, not wanting to risk the life of the boy whose soul she had captured by accident.
"Please relax," she said. "I'm sorry I've trapped your soul." She wished her parents had kept her more informed of what dark magic ran in her family's bloodline.
"Oh, you have!" he cried, reaching out and grabbing her hand. "But don't be sorry, Luna! No! I couldn't stand it if you felt bad about having me!"
"Nonsense!" Luna tried to assure her prisoner. He was going mad already. "We just need to find a way to signal to another student or teacher…"
"Why does anyone have to know, Luna? You and I… that's all that really matters," he rasped.
The effects were starting to show. His soul was getting too used to its prison. It wouldn't want to go back if this lasted for much longer.
"Help!" Luna shrieked. "I've captured this boys soul!" The Hall grew quiet and everyone turned to look at the pair who were still staring at each other.
"And," Draco paused shyly, "have I captured yours?"
Luna let out a terrified scream and she shut her eyes tightly, yanking her hand away from his. He had dark magic too! He was trying to get her soul with his eyes! It was only a trick- a trap!
Draco looked like his heart was being squeezed in a very strong, angry fist. "Luna!"
"Noooooo!" she wailed, keeping her eyes shut as she ferociously attacked the air in front of her face.
His declaration of love had sent her mad with grief. It was true- no one could love a cold heartless bastard like him! He got up, his voice trembling. "If this is how you really feel, then I-" he paused to hold back some tears, "I can't live with myself anymore!"
Luna continued her hysterics and didn't reply. Draco wiped the tears from his face angrily and ran out of the Hall. She had captured his soul, she had! Now he had no soul… there wasn't any point to living anymore! He was outside now, running fast. Where? He didn't know and he didn't care!
Draco found himself at the edge of the Forbidden Forest. Yes, he knew what he must do now. Determined, he marched into the forest and kept going. He moving further into the forest until it was night. Then he sat down right where he stood and waited for the end of his life to come.
