Twenty Years On Tatooine.

Summary: What Obi-Wan was training to do those long years before New Hope.

Disclaimer: I own nothing, and even if I was making money off of this, suing me would be very, very, VERY pointless as I have nothing. NOTHING!

Obi-Wan Kenobi arrived on Tatooine and handed the young child to Beru. She smiled as she took the baby and went to join her husband. The child was safe. The child. Luke. Luke Skywalker. That was his name. The son of his apprentice, his friend, his brother. He felt an immense sense of grief as this thought came upon him, as the gravity of his failure weighed him down full force within his chest. Only the consolation of being re-united with his old Master, Qui-Gon Jinn alleviated the overwhelming sense of grief he carried. Qui-Gon. A sense of dread suddenly accompanied his enthusiasm. Would Qui-Gon be disappointed in him? What would Qui-Gon say? He had promised his dying master to train the boy. It was his dying wish! Would he have held as fastly to the request had he known Qui-Gon would return? Would obeying the counsel have been as difficult? He sighed. Hindsight always offered more clarity then all the facts and truths could offer at the time of the decision. He decided to face his old Master and whatever consequences-or joys- came with the reunion.

Obi-Wan walked to a small house, he had found abandoned. He sat on the floor, not wanting to prolong the wait any more then he had to. He sat cross-legged on the floor. He concentrated as Yoda had told him too, calling to Qui-Gon. Obi-Wan did not know how much time had passed when he finally opened his eyes to see Qui-Gon standing before him.

"Qui-Gon?" he questioned.

"Yes, Obi-Wan. Do not act so surprised."

Obi-Wan froze upon seeing Qui-Gon. He did not know what to say, how to address his old Master, whom he had failed. Suddenly, apologies began tumbling forward from his mouth.

"Qui-Gon," he begun, "I'm sorry. I failed you. I failed Anakin, the republic, the"

He was cut off by Qui-Gon

"Obi-Wan, you failed no one. This may be the will of the force. Anakin is the chosen one. Somehow, these events will bring balance to the force even if we do not see it now. However, I have not come to commune with you to console you. As Yoda said, I seek to further train you."

"How, Master? In what?" Obi-Wan asked.

"Obi-Wan, you have failed in one major area. Catch phrases, you need better catch phrases. That fight with Grievous? 'I don't think so' you said! 'I don't think so?' I don

't think so! And Obi-Wan, a stop button? Why in this galaxy would Anakin have pressed a stop button? A STOP BUTTON?"

"Yes, master, I'm sorry. I will work on it." Obi-Wan replied.

"Yes Obi-Wan you will. I have a feeling you will be facing your apprentice soon again. Meditate on this. I will aid you. Next time you face Vader, try something other than 'the flaw of power is arrogance.'

"But Master, it is! I thought that was clever!" Obi-Wan protested.

"Silence Obi-Wan. Now who is arrogant?" Qui-Gon reprimanded.

"In your next battle with Vader, stay away from 'Only the Sith deal in absolutes' and try something more likeā€¦ 'Only a master of evil, Darth'. Things like that."

"Yes, Master." Obi-Wan obeyed.

"Good," Qui-Gon replied, "You will be ready when the time comes."

The End.

Ok, so not my best work, but it is based on a joke between me and my friend. Review, and if this story made you so angry you hate it and you fear that I will write another fic, feel free to flame me, just know that anger, fear and aggression, the dark side are they. Have a good day!
