A/N- Just something I came up with in the middle of swim practice. Not to be taken seriously, and no pun intended.

Disclaimer- If it were mine, Sirius wouldn't be dead; he'd be snogging me in a corner.

Sirius was leaning back in his chair, looking at the ceiling in the kitchen when he heard a deep voice mutter something. He looked around for the source of the voice, and his eyes finally landed on Kingsley Shacklebolt.

"Huh?" said Sirius.

"I was just thinking," said Kingsley as he set up a game of wizards chess and beckoned Sirius over "isn't life ironic?"

"Very" agreed Sirius as he moved his pawn forward a space.

"I mean, think about it. They've got all the auror's down at the ministry trained up, ready to fight dark wizards, yet they refuse to believe that the most powerful dark wizard is back." He moved his knight forward.

"So true. Stupid ministry…"

They played in silence for a few minutes until-

"Get him you stupid queen! It's only a pawn!" screamed Kingsley.

Sirius looked at him for a moment, then laughed.

Kingsley gave him a questioning look.

"You know what I think is the most ironic?"

"Whats that?"

"You go to work everyday, sitting in an office all day, attempting to find and capture the most wanted wizard in the country, but then come home to play a game of wizards chess with him a few hours later."

Kingsley moved his queen diagonally to the left, then looked up at Sirius, grinning.

"Well, Carpe Diem, my friend."

They both laughed and, at least for a now, life was good.
