Bleed Like Me

Part One: Marissa

Avalanche is sullen and too thin

She couldn't believe he left her.

She understood why, but that wasn't making it any less surreal. It seemed like a blur of dreamy days, bleeding all together. The summer in Newport Beach had that kind of effect on Marissa Cooper. Nothing to do but sit and think.

Her father was worried.

"Kiddo, you wanna talk?" he'd asked her the last time she visited.

She didn't reply.

And she became a shaken bottle, waiting for someone to open her up and let her insides explode. Thing was, she was starting to have no filling left to burst open.

She starves herself to rid herself of sin

"Hey, you want me to make some soy tacos?" Kaitlin piped up to her one day as the sisters sat in Caleb's enormous kitchen. To Marissa's silent glare, she replied. "Oh, that's right, you don't eat."

"Yes, I do," she grumbled.

"Prove it," Kaitlin retorted. "I dare you."

She always fell for those stupid dares.

After consuming half of the soft taco, the contents of her stomach crawled inside, serving as a guilty reminder of her sin.

She would repent.

Once Kaitlin had disappeared, Marissa had sunk to the bathroom, purging her remorse into the toilet. The burning acid inside her mouth made this regrettable.

And the kick is so divine when she sees bones beneath her skin

But, her skeletal body made it worth it. She'd always been a skinny girl, more accurately, a 'shrimp', but now, her pants, a size 0, were bagging a little.

She grinned maliciously, and began to laugh. But the odd, foreign sound fell silent, and was replaced by cries.

"What the fuck is wrong with me?" she demanded of the mirror.

The emaciated figure made no answer.

And she says:
Hey baby can you bleed like me?
C'mon baby can you bleed like me?
