Rated G. I am a romantic at heart. This poem is about my favorite Cajun and my favorite Southern Belle.
This poem takes place several years prior when they broke up in Seatle. I know it was "X-Men Unlimited."
I don't remember the issue number. If anyone knows, please write me.

DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN THE X-MEN. THEY BELONG TO MARVEL. I AM NOT WRITING THIS FOR MONEY SO PLEASE DO NOT SUE!

Run The Gambit

Do you ever think about me
when you're alone at night in bed?
What are the thoughts that haunt you?
Do you have me inside your head?

I want you to be inside my soul
so you will not cry your tears alone.
Just take the risk and touch me
and we'll give this love a home.

I taste your tears on my fingertips.
Loving you is my greatest sin
Run the Garmbit just this once.
We can beat the odds and win!

You're out there somewhere running
and I wonder where you are.
You are my one true, best heart's desire;
a distant, shining star.

It's easy to hid from all of my past.
I've been running for far too long.
But when I ran away as king of thieves
I took your heart along.

You said I gave too little.
You said I loved to late.
Don't run from my open heat
If you do, I will stay and wait.

NOw that I give to you all of me at last.
It was not enought to compensate.
So I know my tears are mingling with the rain
know the price is hight to pay.

As I taste your tears on my fingers
wishing we stood under the sun
we run the gambit and beat the odds
as two hearts and minds become one.
