Disclaimer: Stargate SG-1 characters aren't mine… which is a shame.
AN: Just a bit of fluff, because I'm feeling a little annoyed about my main fic writer's block and the mutant plot bunnies which keep attacking me. Season 6.
Hope you enjoy reading it.
FEELING BLUE
So here we are.
Several years of the highest quality Kelownan university education, and it all results in this.
This is seriously not funny.
Jonas spins around slowly, not sure whether to be pleased or annoyed that he is still alone. Where is everyone? He had, at minimum, expected Colonel O'Neill to be near by. What was that expression again?
Laughing his tail off.
Surely he would be here, somewhere, seeing the results of his actions.
"Come on, Jonas, we're their guests. If there's anything I've learned it's people are far more friendly if you're prepared to give a little."
"With all due respect, Colonel, why do I have to do it? And anyway, I'm pretty sure it isn't completely necessary, according to-"
"Jonas. I'm in charge, so it's my responsibility to always be ready in case of an emergency. Carter, well, I think it might be impolite to ask the lady of the team to do it, don't you?"
"Yes, but-"
"That leaves Teal'c. If you want to, you can ask him."
At that point they had both looked over to Teal'c. Then the Colonel had raised an eyebrow at him.
"Anyway, kiddo, you're the socio-political nerd in the team. It's a ceremonial, cultural thing, right up your skill set."
So here we are.
I wonder if Dr. Jackson ever had to do this.
Jonas raises his face to the sky, and wonders if Dr. Jackson is watching. Maybe he'll get some help. His experience with SG-1 so far told him he could be pretty sure the non-military element of the team always got the wrong end of the stick.
That's not quite right.
Still, nerd solidarity and all that.
"Well?" Jonas calls to the sky, "any help would be appreciated."
The first drop of rain bounces off his cheek, and runs a gentle rivulet down the side of his face.
"Thank you."
Not the help I need when I'm standing naked in a field covered in blue paint.
