Why do you love me?

Faith grinned as the song shifted to a faster track before sliding off the barstool, ignoring the protests of the guys who bought her drinks. Strutting onto a dancefloor that was packed with barely clothed bodies, smelling of sweat and arousal from the mating rituals they were all participating in, she closed her eyes and lost herself in the music, matching the beat easily.

I'm no barbie doll

I'm not your baby girl

I've done ugly things and I have made mistakes

And I am not as pretty as those girls in magazines

She felt hands boldly encircle her waist and her eyes open lazily before turning around to find herself face to face with the person who plagued her dreams. Smirking she put her arms around the shorter woman's neck and brought her closer.

I am rotten to my core if they're to be believed

So what if I'm no baby bird hanging upon your every word?

Nothing ever smells of roses that rises out of mud

A bump from a dancer behind them pushed them impossibly closer together until they were practically breathing the same breath. Faith felt the blonde raise herself up and nibble Faith's ear before singing along with the song, making sure Faith heard every word.

Why do you love me

Why do you love me

Why do you love me, it's driving me crazy

Inside she was screaming the answer yet she knew she'd never get it out. The fear of being denied even making the innuendos or off the cuff remarks paralyzing her tongue. Faith felt an emptyness make itself known in her chest, threatening to swallow her whole as the words died in her throat.

Why do you love me

Why do you love me

Why do you love me, it's driving me crazy

She moved away from her ear and Faith tried to kiss her. The woman moved away, giving a teasing, yet somehow disappointed smile before she left the dance floor. Left Faith alone surrounded by any number of strangers that would die to go home with her. Faith knew she would probably take one home, and that she'd be thinking of her, the only one who could ever understand her, her other half, the light in her otherwise meaningless existence.

As she herself turned to leave the dancefloor, the song suddenly seemed to have taken on a life of its own, designed just to tear her heart open a little more. She caught sight of a golden mane turning back to her, trapping her in her emerald gaze before leaving. Faith felt cold when the eye contact was broken, only registering the lyrics of the song after she had already left and Faith laughed quietly at herself.

Why do you love me?

Faith answered her silent question even though the blonde had left, "Because you're the only one who could ever love me, B..."
