Love and War

More random drabble. I swear, I'm going insane with fics. I'll probably end up ignoring FFN for a few months...and then spasmodically posting again...and so on. Anyway...

Finally! It is set in TPP! Yay! Inspired by Rilo Kiley's Love and War.

All is fair in love and war.

Violet sighed as she led Sunny along the hallway. Were they in a war? Did that make everything they had done fair?

All is fair in love, and we're in love.

That was what her parents used to say to each other when they beat the other in a game. Violet missed them.

All is fair in war, and this is war.

That was what Klaus used to say when he made a move in a complicated logic game that Violet called cheating. Violet missed those games, as horrible as she was at them.

All is fair in love and war.

In the creeping shadows ahead of them, Violet thought for a moment she saw Count Olaf. Were they in a war? Did that make everything Olaf had done fair?

All is fair in love, and we're in love.

Esme and Olaf had been in love. Did that make everything Esme had done fair?

All is fair in war, and this is war.

Both the good side of VFD and the bad side of VFD were in this. If it was war, did it make everything the bad side had done fair?

Is it fair?

What was fair? The good side had killed Olaf's parents. But the bad side had killed Violet's parents. If she was on Olaf's side, would Violet be calling the good side fair? Would she be calling the bad side fair?

When everybody's dead can we finally talk?

Did everyone have to die? Was death the only way to resolve a conflict? Olaf seemed to think so. But if the other side of VFD was noble, noble enough, why had they killed Olaf's parents?

VFD left more questions than answers.

What was VFD? Was it a noble, well-read organization working to stop both figurative and literal fires? Was it a greedy organization working to kill and set fires and steal fortunes?

Was it both?

If all is fair in love and war, then this is war.

Okay, over. I sort of like this one. Some lines are based on the song, maybe twisted up a bit. I hope you guys liked it.
