Yo peoples. I got bored and this story popped into my head when I was searching FFNet for some stories to read and came across an interesting one. As you know, there are people out there who write stories in RK fandom where Tomoe somehow comes back to life or she never died. I'm gonna be doing a story on the latter. It was going to be a continuation fic, but…I don't wanna write it just to have no one review.

Anyways, enjoy the story. And no flames. I will not stand flames. Last person that flamed, I thought about removing a story I worked really hard on...

Disclaimer: Rurouni Kenshin and its characters belong to Watsuki-sama and whoever else owns the series. However, I own Kokoro.

"Congratulations, it's a girl." When Megumi said those words, Kenshin felt a great burden was taken off of his shoulders. He was worried about the birth of his new child and what would happen to his wife, Tomoe. Women died during birth. He didn't want his happiness to go away.

"And Tomoe-san?" Kaoru asked.

"She's okay as well. But she's a bit tired, so you can only take to her for a bit. Then let her rest." The doctor smiled warmly. "Congratulations, Ken-san." She said softly.

" …" Kenshin merely nodded a thanks and walked into the room. He saw his wife sitting in the futon, cradling a little bundle wrapped in a blanket. She seemed tired but happy. When Tomoe spotted him, she smiled.

"Do you want to see your new daughter?" She said softly as he sat down beside her. Tomoe handed her husband the bundle. He looked down at the baby. She was so small with little black strands of hair. This child was his. His and Tomoe's. After all the terrible things he had done in the past, he would never have guessed that he'd have a hand in creating something so pure.

'Nothing bad shall ever happen to you. I'll make sure that you won't have to go through the things your mother and I did. I promise…'

"Are you upset?" Tomoe said when she noticed Kenshin's happy smile disappear a while after cradling their daughter. "Did you want a boy?"

"Mm? I didn't care what the child was. Boy or girl, I'll love her the same." Kenshin stated. "I was just…thinking about our child's life.'

"We already know there are a few people that still want to kill Battousai out there. If anything were to happen to you…to our child…" He felt something grasp his hand. He looked down and saw Tomoe's snow-white hand holding his firmly.

"I know you'll never let anything happen to us." She smiled a small smile. "You deserve this happiness." 'The man that took the love of my life and gave me a new happiness…he deserves one too…'

"Tomoe…" Kenshin's eyes glazed over.

"What are we going to call her?" Tomoe said as she looked down lovingly at her new daughter. "Sakura? Or Keiko?"

"No…" The word just appeared in his mind. "Kokoro…"

"What did you say?"

"Kokoro." Kenshin looked at Tomoe and smiled. "It fits her. She's a part of us. Our hearts and souls. Our Kokoro."

"Hai. Kokoro it is."

After their conversation, Kokoro began to move around a bit. She opened her dull violet eyes and saw two unfamiliar people (Kenshin and Tomoe) looking down at her. She mewled and started to cry. Kenshin handed her over to Tomoe and she started to rock the child back and forth.

Kenshin just sat back and watched. This was his family His beloved wife and child…he would never let anything happen to them. He would never let his happiness be taken away…

Yeah this was very short. It seemed a lot longer in my notebook. Ah well. Just review and tell me what you think. I just know I'm gonna remove it after a while. C U Later.
