Prologue: Memories of the Past
"Why … do you've white eyes?" Sasuke asked, gazing curiously at Hinata.
Their parents were inside the house, obviously discussing something important from the serious tones.
"It's our bloodline's ability," Hinata replied, giving a smile at the raven haired. "You're Sasuke, right?"
Sasuke replied with a weak nod and added. "Then, you must be Hinata."
Uchiha Mikoto turned her head to Sasuke and Hinata, her lips uncurled into a smile.
She and her husband had chosen a suitable fiancé for their son.
It was the first day at the Academy for the first year.
Hinata ran her eyes to her father, waving her hand at him. Then, she glanced at Sasuke next to her and instantly her smile faltered. It was strange to her, seeing the sadness written over his face, realizing that he was the only one like that and knowing that he should be happy, like her.
She went closer to him, concern gleaming in her eyes.
"Sasuke, are you alright?"
"I'm just tired a bit," Sasuke replied quickly.
She glanced at Sasuke's father, who by now had a scowl flowed over his face.
"What happened to him?" Hinata asked, tilting her head at her father, as they came to a stop at a ward's door.
Hiashi lowered his head as he grabbed the doorknob. Deep contemplation flowed over his face, as he slowly knelt.
"Hinata … something horrible had happened to him last night," Hiashi said, resting his hand on his daughter's shoulder. "I'm not sure if he wants to see anyone-"
"-But I want to see him," Hinata retorted quickly.
Hiashi gazed deeply at her daughter, upon hearing her words.
"Then, go now. He's inside," Hiashi said suddenly, turning the doorknob and pushed the door inward.
She went inside, finding Sasuke seated on his bed. He was staring at the wall, and then she realized of stoic plastered over his face.
He turned his head, setting a gaze at her. His eyes were lifeless, something she had never seen before.
And slowly, tears rolled down his cheeks.
