Disclaimer: I don't own Jake Long. If I did it probably wouldn't be preferred for kids.

AN: Obviously, this takes place after The Hunted, I have yet to see this episode but I know what happens and that's what's important.

I look in the mirror in my bathroom as I brush my long straight brunette hair. I stare into my dark brown eyes…

It's still difficult to look at my reflection… knowing that it's almost wrong… but this is me now.

This is me… It's been me for over seven years now.

My name is Julie. Julie Reynolds. I have a cat, Selene, and a daughter… Mercedes Rose…

I'm a normal woman of twenty-seven don't you think? I'm your typical single mom with a seven year old daughter trying to make it on her own… but I'm so much more than that.

My name wasn't always Julie. No. And my hair, at one point in time, was never straight andit was practically the opposite of its current color. My eyes were never brown.

I was something. I was strong. And I was cruel. I was even feared at one time. But that was a long time ago. That was then. This is now.

Let me tell you a story…

Once upon a time, there was a beautiful young girl. She was loved and adored by many; including that of a handsome boy.

The girl and the boy were very much in love despite their young age and thought they'd be together forever.

But this girl had a secret life… this girl was a huntress.

She was Huntsgirl of the Huntsclan; a clan that hunted and killed magical creatures for profit. And she was a natural. She would have completed every mission with great ease if not for her arch rival… the American Dragon.

He was the enemy. She knew that.

They fought… they fought many times. But one day, the dragon found out the true identity of Huntsgirl. And she later found out the dragon was the boy she loved so much.

Do you think this made the girl turn away from her clan? Do you think she and the dragon-boy lived happily ever after?

Not in this story.

In this story the girl left… I left. I left far away with my uncle. And I stayed with the clan.

Eventually I got over him. I fell in love again. I got married. And now… now I'm not that girl anymore. I'm not even the woman that girl grew into. Now I'm someone else.

Now I've been running away from the very people I called family for the last seven and a half years.

This is just the Prologue to Mercy. The rest of the chapters will be longer, you're questions will be all answered. All I need you to do is… review.
