"Well, this is a mission gone wrong," Naruto remarked, as him, Sasuke and Sakura looked around the deserted island, completely desolate of life.

"You don't say?" Sasuke replied, sarcastically, rolling his eyes at the dobe.

"Well, at least I've been more useful than you!"

"What are you talking about, you lead us into this mess!" Sasuke retorted.

"No, you made us go this way!"

"Because you blocked off the other way!"

"Guys!" Sakura interrupted their argument. "I'm going to go and find some kind of a radio transmission service on the island, see if there's any way to contact the mainland. Can you two stay here and try to start a fire, get the attention of boats passing by? And please, try not to argue."

Sasuke and Naruto glared daggers at each other, their eyes burning. "Fine," they said together, through gritted teeth.

After Sakura reluctantly left, silence ensued. Naruto glanced at Sasuke, before asking "So…shall we start a fire then?"

Sasuke glanced back at him, and shrugged, "Suppose."

But neither made a move, and they fell into a heavy silence once more. A few minutes passed, until Naruto decided to break it again, "If you were stuck on a desert island, what one item would you bring?"

Sasuke glared at him. "We're already stuck on a desert island, and I don't have a choice of what to bring."

Naruto sighed. "I'm just saying, if you could bring something, what would it be? Like, a tent or something."

"I wouldn't bring anything," Sasuke said.

Naruto frowned. "Well that's just stupid. You have to bring something. And seriously, you would want to bring something. Something useful."

Sasuke sighed, and then thought about it for a moment. "Er… well then I guess I'd bring some food, or drink, or something."

"No, that doesn't count, it has to be an OBJECT, Sasuke, OBJECT," Naruto replied, sighing.

Sasuke rolled his eyes. "Fine. Um…"

"Well, you could bring a trap - to catch food, or like a cup, to hold drink," Naruto suggested. "Not that you'd bring a cup. Because that's a bit lame."

"Well," Sasuke racked his brain for an idea. "On this island, would I get my kunai?"

Naruto paused and thought about it for a moment.

"No, everything is lost at sea,"he finallyanswered.

"Well then, I think I'll bring that then - my kunai," Sasuke said, nodding proudly at the blond shinobi.

Naruto nodded. "Suppose it makes sense."

The silence returned, and the two of them stood there awkwardly, waiting for the other one to speak.

"Well, what would you bring?" Sasuke asked.

"Me?" Naruto thought about it. "No,I think I'malright."

"What do you mean, you're alright? You told me that 'nothing' was stupid!" Sasuke snapped.

"I didn't say I wouldn't bring anything," Naruto corrected him. "I just said that I'm alright. Like this."

Sasuke's brow furrowed. "What do you mean?"

"Well… I just meant that… y'know…" Naruto paused momentarily, almost reluctant to continue. "I'm fine here. With just us two. I'm satisfied."

"Wait, but I don't get it, what's your object?" Sasuke questioned.

"Well… I guess, you," Naruto blushed.

Sasuke smirked. "Oh no, that doesn't count, it has to be an OBJECT, Naruto, OBJECT."

Naruto smirked back. "You think that you're not an object."

The two returned to their silence, smirking at each other.

"Wait, I'm not an object…"

"You keep believing that, Sasuke."

A nice little short. We enjoyed writing that :)
