Dedicated to Isha, for her lovely Anya/Nick icon. I only wish I wasn't so fickle…and thanks to Kat for the title and Lan for the summary!
"You like blue, don't you?"
"No, red. I like red better, so that's one point taken away from you." Kalasin couldn't help but giggle. "However did you get the notion that I liked blue?"
Kaddar frowned. "Well…you wear blue a lot. And you told me that you liked sapphires."
"I wear blue gowns and sapphires because of my eyes," corrected Kalasin. "And I can't wear a blue dress with rubies or garnets, can I?"
Sighing, Kaddar ruffled her hair. "It's a bit ridiculous, isn't it? I know every inch of you and we've been married for three months, but I still don't know your favorite color."
"Not as ridiculous as it might sound," she replied playfully. Kalasin stretched luxuriously, and then sat up straight. "And you do not know every inch of me. For example, you don't know that—"
"—That whenever someone touches your ribs, you squeal," Kaddar completed, grinning.
Kalasin scowled, crossing her arms. "I do not."
"You're very contrary today, aren't you?" With that, he reached across and pulled her close, tickling her until she managed to get free and hit him with a cushion.
Kalasin turned her nose up at him. "That didn't count."
"Of course it didn't. You didn't squeal, after all. You only yelped, shrieked, hit me with a cushion, pulled my hair, and almost fell off the sofa in the process."
"You started it. It was a perfectly peaceful discussion before you decided to interfere."
Kaddar considered being outraged and threatening to tie her to something and tickle her until she begged for mercy, but then he decided that that would defy the purpose. "Fine. Empress Kalasin, I propose a truce."
Kalasin made a face. "I suppose I'll have to agree, for the sake of diplomacy. And, Kaddar?" she added as an afterthought.
"Call me Kally."
He was silent for a moment. "You have a lovely name," he pointed out. "It's a waste if you don't use it. But then, I suppose I don't exactly have a choice in the matter."
Kally smirked. "See? We're getting to know each other quite well already."
Kaddar yawned, leaning back against the cushions. "You know…Kally…"
"It's not that hard, getting to know somebody you love."
Kally opened her mouth and closed it again, blushing. "…Oh."
"…but I still think you can be a stubborn, obstinate, horrible person. A ticklish, stubborn, obstinate, horrible person, at that."
"I love you, too."
This one was fun, and it goes out to anybody in a hate/love relationship. Or anybody who's in love with the person they pretend to hate. You know what I mean.
