Down the Aisle
"Are you sure that you want to do this?" CJ asked her friend one last time, as she helped her to zip up her dress.
Donna let out a long breath before replying "Yes"
After reaching up to straighten Donna's veil, CJ took a step back to admire her handiwork. "You look beautiful Donna." She announced smiling widely and then leaning in to give her friend a hug.
"Thank you." Donna beamed as she looked at her reflection in the full length mirror before her. Then holding her dress out, she twirled around, letting it puff out around her as she laughed in excitement of the coming ceremony.
Finally she stopped spinning and looked at her friend.
"I'm really getting married, CJ." She announced her eyes wide.
"I'm going to be Mrs Donnatella Reese." She sighed in contentment.
"Donna?" Margaret appeared in the doorway. "Are you ready? Everybody's outside waiting."
"Even…?" Donna looked up.
Margaret shook her head. "No, he's not here yet."
Donna bit her lip, her eyes clouding over for a minute. When she looked up again, all nervousness was gone.
"Well, what are we waiting for? Let's get me married!"
The bridesmaids had already made their way down the aisle and now it was Donna's turn. She began her walk with her head held high, smiling at her friends as she passed them.
Finally reaching the end, she passed CJ the flowers she was holding and joined hands with Jack, who was grinning widely at her. Donna's tummy churned slightly and the thought of butterflies fluttering inside her made her feel even more queasy. But she forced herself to smile back at him.
So busy was she trying to ignore her stomach that she missed most of the word's that had been spoken to her and her betrothed. Looking back up she suddenly heard, "If anyone has any reason why these two shall not be wed…"
Donna almost stopped breathing, this was it, her last chance. Not daring to turn she waited with bated breath.
"Stop!" Everybody turned shocked to look at where the shout had come from.
Donna's heart began to beat rapidly as she realised just who had spoken.
"You can't marry him!" The familiar voice spoke again.
Donna turned to see Josh making his way towards her.
"And why not?" she asked him, hands on her hips, although a smile tugged at her lips.
"Because!" he shouted in her face. Grimacing Donna wiped the spit off her face. Josh grinned at her sheepishly, "Because," he began again, "he's not who you think he is." He announced.
"Really? Then who is he?" Donna asked him skeptically.
Josh turned and spoke to the whole room while pointing an accusatory finger at Jack. "He is really the Green Goblin in disguise!"
A shriek came from behind her and Donna turned to see, Sam, Josh's best friend had been the one to shriek with horror.
"I knew that there was something off about you!" Donna turned angrily to Jack. "CJ!" she called out to her friend. CJ reached behind her and grabbed a rope which had been sitting there conveniently.
"You'll never catch me!" Jack cackled as he began to make a run for it down the aisle.
Josh and Donna quickly made eye contact and nodded at each other, each knowing what the other was thinking. Each running in a different direction they rounded off to finally corner Jack, before tackling him to the ground. Together they tied him up, binding his wrists and ankles. Then in triumph they high- fived each other and then stood proudly as the room applauded wildly for them.
"That'll show you Green Goblin. The Tremendous Two can not ever be defeated." Donna announced, looking at Jack pityingly.
"Let's go." Josh suggested to Donna, holding out his hand to her. She smiled at him as she grabbed his hand in hers. Together they began walking away when a shout came from behind them.
"Hey guys? Josh? Donna?" Jack was calling for them. "Can you untie me now?"
Donna sighed. "Fine."
When Jack was finally untied Donna and Josh started to leave again.
"How come I'm always the bad guy when we play these games?" Jack asked his friends. Josh shrugged, "It suits you." He turned to Donna.
"Come on, let's go. Want to come over for dinner tonight? Mum said that you could since we'll be starting Kindergarten tomorrow…"
about the insanity of this. Before I started to write it, it
wasn't quite so crazy…
I'm not sure that it even makes sense...
