Disclaimer: unfortunately I do not own Captain Jack. Not yet at least...

She Always Did

She always stood there. Her back to the ship and looking out into space. Trying to block out any situation they were in. She always stood there. She always did.

She always knew what they were up against. He could see that it troubled her. Whatever foul creatures they were up against, he would make sure they didn't harm her. She always knew what they were up against. She always did.

She always came prepared. Ready for what was out there. The amount of guns she had stored away could arm the rest of the crew twice over. She always came prepared. She always did.

She always saved his life. He had saved her a few times but he was in debt. She smirked when he said that. Replying that he wasn't in debt; she just wouldn't bother next time. She always saved his life. She always did.

She always took the dangerous jobs. He wished she wouldn't. He tried to volunteer before her but the others only complained, saying that she knew what to do and he didn't. She always took the dangerous jobs. She always did.

She always said she was fine. He knew she wasn't. He could see that part of her wanted to be back there with them. Being treated like a robot with no emotions involved. That must seem easier to her. She always said she was fine. She always did.

She always ignored him. When he talked about fate and how they were meant to meet. She changed the subject and moved on to more 'pressing matters'. She always ignored him. She always did.

She always caused him to rub his eyes. In stress. He had the feeling they were going around in circles. She always caused him to rub his eyes. She always did.

She always said she didn't care. But he could see the hurt in his eyes when he flirted with other people. But they meant nothing to him. Not like her. She always said she didn't care. She always did.

She'd never let him say it. He'd begin. Try and catch her off guard. But she never was. He'd give her his last gun. He'd give her his favourite gun. He'd give her his last breath. She'd have more use for it. He'd give her his heart. But she already had it.

She'd never respond. She always kept her cool. She always did.
