"For I love you like you'd never let yourself feel again / I love you like a brother and a friend / I love you with my whole heart until it burns / I love you like a lover until the end..."
- "Even So", Rachael Yamagata
She had been trying to tell him the truth for months now. Of course, she hadn't come right out and said it which was her definitive problem. Inuyasha did not grasp subtlety well. He wasn't stupid though and he scented truth rather well...when he wanted to.
The problem, of course, was that Inuyasha did not want to know this truth. She couldn't blame him, but she was almost 19 now and there were several truths she couldn't hide from:
Her life wasn't in the Sengoku Jidai unless it was with Inuyasha- truth.
Inuyasha wasn't ready to give her the life she needed – truth.
She couldn't wait to start her life forever...truth.
She was moving away from the Shrine in the Fall to a University in the States – truth.
She'd leave a part of her behind in the Sengoku Jidai – truth.
She would move on though, from him, that was truth too.
That was the hardest truth for her to face: that her life wouldn't spontaneously end just because she couldn't be with Inuyasha anymore, that her heart wouldn't suddenly burst if she didn't have him to fill it.
It wouldn't really.
A/N: Whew! '' Got it in at the last moment! Not very good, I'm afraid, but the first thing Inuyasha related I've written in a while...
