She knew she was dying. She had this rare disease; she didn't even remember the name of. She wasn't in pain anymore, the medicine prevented that. She didn't have the strength to move, she was literally fading away. At any minute her heart could just stop beating. It was almost ironic when she thought of it. She didn't even remember having a heart…
Her eyes were closed, but she knew Sydney, Broots and Debbie were there with her. Her father was there too.
All of the sudden the room was filled with noises, people shouting. With the little strength she had left, she forced her eyes open.
She couldn't believe her eyes as she saw him walk towards her, sweepers followed like a tail, but he just shook them off. He said a couple of words to Mr Parker, and she could see her father nod his head. He said something to the sweepers who left and the room became as quiet as it had been before.
She could feel someone take her limp hand and squeeze it gently. She tried to turn her head, but she was too weak.
"Don't move," he whispered as soft as he could.
"Jarod?" she tried to talk.
"Shhh, I'm here now."
She looked at him, looked into those beautiful brown eyes. She saw so much love there, and suddenly she felt safe.
She had felt there was something missing, and now she knew what it was. There had always been something missing in her life, and Jarod was the one…
"I made a deal with your father, with the Centre, they can have me back… as long as I can be here with you, I couldn't stay away Parker… I love you," Jarod whispered, carefully letting one of his hands run through her soft dark hair. As he kept watching her beautiful face, he wished he had told her earlier, maybe it could have made a difference.
A couple of tears silently found their way down her cheeks, and Jarod gently brushed them away.
"Don't be afraid, you'll have a better life now, there no one can hurt you anymore…" he whispered, loud enough for only Parker to hear.
She slowly closed her eyes. She wanted to talk to him, so badly, but she couldn't force herself to do something she didn't have the strength to. She couldn't believe he scarified his freedom just so he could be there for her in her last moments. It was more than anyone had ever done for her, and it meant more to her than anyone could ever imagine.
"Jar… I…" she tried to speak. She had to tell him before it would be too late. If she didn't do it now, the three words she had wanted to tell him all of her life, would be lost forever.
Jarod leaned closer; still letting his fingers play with her hair. He wanted her to know that he was there for her. Oh how he wanted to hold her, and make all the hurt go away…
With the little strength she had left, she opened her eyes to look at him… one last look… "I… love you…" she whispered the words so softly, "…forever…" Jarod caressed her face, softly placing a kiss on her lips. "Forever…" he repeated.
A single tear slipped down her cheek as her eyes slowly closed… this time forever…
