Disclaimer: If I owned this series, would I have to save for months just to buy the damn DVDs? Ah, I don't think so!
Alright, this is just a very strange oneshot that popped into my head. Don't ask me where it came from! It's just a father-son talk before the war started, but just when it was looming.
"Do you believe in God?"
Grey eyes turned on the voice, stunned. "What?"
"Just that. Do you believe in God?" Green eyes focused down as he said the words, voice never changing. His older companion shook his head. "I don't know. Why do you ask?"
"Because...I was told I was against what God intended. Well, actually, they yelled it at me. I was just wondering...how can I be against the will of someone I'm not even sure exists. Do you think he exists?"
The older man shook his head. "I'm not sure... Maybe he does. And if he does, then I don't see how you being born was against his will. I think I read somewhere that anything alive in this world is God's will. That we are all his children. I'm not sure I believe that. But it's kinda comforting to know...if you ever needed something to lean on."
The younger glanced up at him. "Really? So...why do they say it then..."
"I'm afraid I don't have an answer to that. Maybe they just need something to believe in, to protect themselves with."
"Because they don't like us?"
"Because they're afraid of us. They like to think that they have one common father who will protect them. They like to think they are safe."
The younger one's shoulders slumped. His companion slipped an arm around them and pulled him close. "You're safe too, you know that right? We may be on the brink of war, but you're safe. Because whatever about being children of God, you are my child. I'm not going to let them hurt you, do you understand? I will protect you."
The boy nodded, burying his face in the man's chest and squeezing his eyes shut.
"I don't think I believe in God, father..." The man looked down onto the tousled hair.
"No. I believe in you..."
Well, that's it. Please R&R and tell me what you think? Please? And if I offended anyone with talk of God, then I'm very sorry, I meant nothing by it and I've nothing against your beliefs.
