AN: This really is just a tiny little piece of religious Face fluff. I thought about it after church when this poem was read out to us (At least it was after church not during hehe). The whole story is based upon the religious (Christian) poem Footprints. I hope you like it anyway. (I warn you now it's a pretty pointless story, even for fluff- I already know that) I appreciate any comments and reviews!
Disclaimer: I don't own the A-Team.
As Face slept, it was obvious to Murdock that he was troubled by something. After all, they had been through so much and Face had been so young. They all were really; no amount of time on earth could prepare you for such a life.
Asleep, Face dreamt he was walking along a beach, unlike usual, this did not include the company of a beautiful young woman but in fact he was walking with the Lord at his side. He saw flashes of his life through the dark sky in front of him. He saw his time at the orphanage when he was little, losing the love of his life when she disappeared from him, joining the Army, going to Vietnam, suffering through the POW camps, and of course being convicted for a crime he didn't commit, it was all there… so clear.
Through much of his life's journey, he noticed that there were two sets of footprints in the sand, one set his, the other was God's. But whenever things became difficult, all he saw were one set of footprints. Face decided to confront the Lord with this. He said "Lord, you promised to always stay by my side and yet I noticed through the most difficult times there were only one set of footprints"
The Lord replied "My precious child, I love you and will never leave you, during your trials and testing. When you saw only one set of footprints, it was I that carried you."
Face suddenly awoke, startling Murdock.
"Hey Faceman, you alright?" asked Murdock
Face looked around the van at his friends, his family, and realised that there is never only one set of footprints in the sand. There are five, his own, his teams, and his Lord's. God had always managed to send help to him in time of need; usually in the form of his friends.
He smiled at Murdock and replied "Yes, everything's perfect" before settling down again for the long journey ahead.
One night I dreamed a dream.
I was walking along a beach with my Lord.
Across the dark sky flashed scenes from my life.
For each scene, I noticed two sets of footprints in the sand,
one belonging to me and one to my Lord.
When the last scene of my life shot before me
I looked back and realised that this was at the lowest and saddest time of my life.
This always bothered me and I questioned the Lord about my dilemma.
"Lord, you told me when I decided to follow you,
You would walk and talk with me all the way.
But I'm aware that during the most troublesome times of my life there is only one set of footprints.
I just don't understand why, when I needed you most,
You leave me."
"My precious child,
I love you and will never leave you
never, ever, during your trials and testings.
When you saw only one set of footprints,
It was I that carried you."
