Disclaimer: I don't own YYH.

For Monique. I'm glad to be writing again, and I hope you like this.

CONTEST: If anyone can successfully guess who the hunter and the two other lovers are (at least two out of the three), I'll write a shounen-ai fic for them with a pairing and plot of their choice (as long as I'm familiar with the anime/manga/book/movie/etc.)

Enjoy and please review!

I was in the forest again, and the unseen ravens called my name. Twilight had fallen in this forest; already I could see a hint of the moon. It was cold. The air was thick with the scent of blood. My vision was clouded by an unnatural darkness radiating from somewhere within this forest.

Suddenly the realization dawned upon me…I was being hunted.

Faster than a diving falcon, my hunter was upon me. He drove me to the ground and held me there. Strangely enough, I did not struggle.

My eyes began to burn with the fiery energy feeding off his dark soul. I tried closing my eyes, but that offered no relief. My flesh burned wherever his body came into contact with mine. I did not cry out, even though I was sure his hands were eating holes into my shoulders.

Though I could not see his face, I could smell the blood on his hands. I could feel his warm breath on my face, and it was getting closer.

"You've disappointed me," his arrogant voice whispered into my ear. His hot cheek touched mine.

"How many times must I tell you that you are mine?" he questioned. He bit into my neck, and I could not repress a groan of pain. He licked the wound, I'm sure savoring the taste of fresh blood, and then proceeded. His tongue was like one of fire spreading itself across the territory of my skin.

"Look at me," he hissed, "and tell me that you've made a dreadful mistake."

I forced my eyes open to stare into his scarlet spheres. Before I could speak, his lips captured my own with the effect of a flame engulfing a piece of paper.

"On second thought," he said, "why should I give you another chance when this has happened before? I should end it now."

Perhaps it was better this way. My hunter had already killed the two men I had loved…the first on my first night in this wretched forest all those years ago, and the second on this night.

There was nothing left for me in life except this man, this evil creature. At least in death I could be with those I truly loved.

He sensed my thoughts. "I'm sorry pet, but you can't even have them in the afterlife. I've marked you. If I kill you now, you will be mine forever."

His dark energy rose to the highest level imaginable and black flames of evil shot across this cold forest where twilight had fallen and ravens called my name. He would burn me to death in this forest.

I did not scream as he smiled wickedly and kissed me for the final time, nor did I scream as the flames engulfed my body. I simply listened to the ravens, remembering. And as the final breath of life left me, I heard my hunter say for the final time, "You're mine, Kurama."
