Title: For Want of a Mother

Summery: A Mother's Day oneshot. Lucy finds out that she is not quite so alone…Peter/Lucy sibling fluff. No incest. Set during the Golden Age, just after the coronation.

A/N: I know Mother's Day was weeks ago, but I just had this idea. Oh, and I'm terribly sorry if the ages are wrong. I never quite figured out how old everyone was, so I'm saying that these were the ages when they went into the wardrobe: Lucy, 8; Edmund, 10; Susan, 12; Peter, 14. Hope you enjoy!

Lucy Pevensie looked out the window as grey skies poured down rain on Cair Paravel. It was one of the rare foul weather days in Narnia, and for Lucy, it reflected her mood. She sniffled, and wiped tears from her eyes.

"Oh, Mum," she whispered, "I wonder what you're doing right now. I miss you."

"Lu?" said a voice from behind her. Lucy jumped, then turned to face her brother. He frowned at her. "What's wrong, Lu?"

Lucy tried to smile. "Nothing, Peter. I'm fine." Peter just raised his eyebrows. "I'm not Ed, Lucy. You can't fool me. What's the matter?"

"Do you know what today is, Peter?" she asked him, turning back to the window.

"I would say Sunday, but I don't think that's what you're looking for." He said. She shook her head. "It's Mother's Day."

He froze. Then he went over and put his hand on Lucy's shoulder. "I suppose it is." He said quietly. "I miss her Peter." She whispered. "A girl shouldn't have to grow up without her mother, I'm only 8! I'm going to do so many things that she would need to be here for! My first ball, my first dance, my first crush, my first kiss…and I need advice! Things that Susan can't answer. I need my Mum!" Lucy broke down and cried, with her face in her hands. Peter, too, teared up and pulled his little sister into his lap.

"I know, Lu. I miss her too, and I'm 14. I'm supposed to be the adult of the family, but sometimes I don't feel like it. Sometimes I just think that we're in the wrong place, and we should be back in England, with Mum fixing breakfast and Dad smoking his pipe in front of the fire."

"Really?" Said Lucy, drying her eyes. "But you're so strong, and brave."

Peter chuckled a little. "Well I'm glad you think so. But you too are brave and strong. Even the strongest of us need a little coddling sometimes."

"Sometimes I'm afraid I will forget. About Mum and Dad, and England."

"You won't, Lucy. Because they are in here," and he tapped her chest, "In your heart."

"Thanks, Peter," she said, hugging him tightly. He dropped a kiss on her forehead. "You're welcome Lu. Now then, I have an idea. What's say we get Ed and Su, and take some flowers to Mrs. Beaver? She can be our honorary mother for the day."

"That's a great idea!" Lucy exclaimed. Then she snuggled deeper into Peter's arms.

"In a minute," she added. Peter laughed, and agreed. As she sat there, safe in her brother's arms, Lucy watched the Sun peak out from behind the clouds and gave thanks to Aslan that she wasn't so alone in missing her mother. And perhaps…

For want of a mother…Aslan had given her a brother.

A/N: Sorry if it's kinda cheesy. I had wanted to write some sibling fluff for the Pevensies for a while, but couldn't thing of anything. I hope you liked this, and please review!
