Fire

Author's Note: This came to me after watching Dean burn bones again! Anyway nobody and nothing is mine and I'm just playing. Hope you like the poem. Constructive reviews would be great.

Fire

Burning,

Flames licking,

Creeping outward,

Hungrily seeking to consume.

Starving, soul-less,

Fever-bright hunt.

Haphazard, hypnotic dance,

Weaving, intertwined flames.

Licking,

Lapping,

Devouring.

He stands mesmerized

Before it,

Bends and feed it more.

Flames snap like jaws

Round new sustenance.

He watches, entranced

By the sight, smell, feel, taste, sound.

Fire.

Orange, yellow, blue

Smoke dried air, pungent,

Heat bathing skin,

Rasping breath drawing in the distinct taste,

Crackle, hiss, roar.

He listens to the sound of the flames encroaching

Consuming more of their surroundings,

Edging towards,

Wary,

Waiting.

Mindless attacker,

Soul stealer,

Heartless murderer

The flames abate

Hunger never satiated,

But rations exhausted.

He waits and watches,

Still.

Colours dim,

Smoke dissipates,

Heat withdrawn

Flavours dull

Silence

Grey ashes remain

A burnt out shell

A husk.

He turns and leaves

Quiet now.
