Theme to Quiverwing's Last Dance

For best effect, read while listening to the Tom Petty song "Mary Jane's Last Dance.'

[Fade In. Shot opens with a panoramic sweep of Old Freebird Stadium. The stadium is empty save for four figures on the edge of one of the bleachers. Camera slowly zooms in on the figures.]

[As the camera closes in on them, the figures become identifiable. Sitting above the rest, with a makeshift set of drums in front of him is Tank Muddlefoot. Standing below him is Lance Mallard, holding an electric guitar. To one side of Lance is perched Alec DeDown, holding a harmonica. To the other side of Lance, sitting on the very edge of the bleachers, sits a dejected looking Tom Lefty.]

[Camera continues closing. Lance begins playing the opening cords of the song.]

[Tank comes in on drums. Camera finishes closing, ending on a close-up on Lance. Camera shifts to the side focusing on Tom. Wearily, Tom raises his head and stares into the camera.]

TOM (singing):

Well she grew up in the outskirts of town,

Had a Superhero dad, who never was around.

But she grew up tall, and she grew up right,

Runnin' around in the Saint Canard nights.

[Brief harmonica solo by Alec.]

TOM:

She came out here, at the age of eighteen.

Newest Superhero, fresh on the scene.

She learned our situation and she warned us away.

Guess she never thought that their'd be hell to pay...

Yeah...

'Be hell to pay.

[Camera backs up and focuses on Lance and Tom.]

TOM and LANCE:

Last dance for Quiverwing.

This'll be her final fliii--iiii-iiing.

Winter's slowly creeping in,

And she'll never fight crime agaiii--iii--iin.

[Another harmonica solo. Pan back to Tom.]

TOM:

Well I don't know, but I've been told,

Ya always keep movin', ya never grow cold.

She's tired of holdin' back, tired of stayin' down,

Tired of leavin' stuff to others in town.

Oh my my,

Oh hell yes.

Quivy just do what you do best.

Loose that arrow,

String that bow.

Lurk in the shadows, wherever you go.

[Cut to shot of the entire group.]

TOM and LANCE:

Last dance for Quiverwing.

This'll be her final fliii--iiii-iiing.

Winter's slowly creeping in,

And she'll never fight crime agaiii--iii--iin.

[Camera focuses on Lance as he does some extended guitar riffs. Cut back to Tom.]

TOM:

Now there's nothing there, underneath the mask,

Maybe she's been beat at last.

Looking down from her old bedroom,

And nightfall will be coming soon.

TOM and LANCE:

Oh, my my,

Oh, hell yes.

Go on put on that Crimson vest.

TOM:

You were too scared to move when you went out before,

Put on the new mask, 'n' walk out the door.

[Pan back for another group shot.]

TOM and LANCE:

Last dance for Quiverwing.

This'll be her final fliii--iiii-iiing.

Winter's slowly creeping in,

And she'll never fight crime agaiii--iii--iin.

[Tom slowly lowers his head. Music begins to wind down with dueling guitar and harmonica solos. Camera cuts to various members of the band. After a moment, the camera begins slowly pulling away, and the music begins to fade accordingly. The scene fades out on the same view it came in on.]
