Disclaimer: I do not own the characters or the universe they live in.
Summary: Pre-series. Nothing makes Sam cry like horseradish.
The burning pain spreads through his face and Sam clenches her mouth shut to suppress a yell. His eyes water and he instinctively closes his eyes.
"If you don't cooperate, we'll have to do this again."
Sam forces himself to open his eyes. He feels the glass vial pressing against the tips of his eyes, first the right than the left, collecting the virgin tears of a thirteen year old boy.
"Is this enough?" Dean asks, holding up the tiny vial for their father's inspection. It is three-fourths full.
"It'll do." John said. Sam sighed with relief, wiping away the last of the tears from his eyes. The burning is already fading for his sinuses.
"You did good, Sammy." John commended, with a clap on the back, before turning back to Dean and the task a hand.
Sam smiled at the rare praise. It was almost worth eating a spoonful of horseradish.
