Prompt # 35: Sixth Sense
As Aragorn was in his tent, tossing as he slept restlessly. He dreamt of Arwen lying listless in her bed in Rivendell. Her eyes open and then he could see a quick view of the Paths of the Dead.
"I choose a mortal life." he heard the soft voice of Arwen.
Aragorn could see a single tear fall from her eye.
" I wish I could've seen him...one last time." Aragorn heard her again.
He could see Arwen close her eyes. The Evenstar drops and breaks into a thousand pieces.
At that point, Aragorn snaps awake and draws his elven knife. A Rohirrim guard stands at the entrance to his tent.
" Sir? King Théoden awaits you, My Lord." The guard said to him, and then he left the tent as Aragorn nodded at him.
Aragorn entered Théoden 's tent to find Théoden standing in front of a hooded figure.
Théoden said "I take my leave." and departed.
Aragorn slowly approached the figure and the figure stood and removed the hood, revealing Elrond.
Aragorn bowed and looked surprised," My Lord Elrond."
"I come on behalf of one whom I love. Arwen is dying. She will not long survive the evil that now spreads from Mordor. The light of the Evenstar is failing. As Sauron's power grows, her strength wanes. Arwen's life is now tied to the fate of the Ring. The Shadow is upon us, Aragorn. The end has come." Elrond said to him with care.
'So… the dream was real… I need to save you my dear Arwen… but what can I do? I am only a ranger…' Aragorn thought.
