Laws of Blood Purity
The 1970's marked the rise of the most dangerous wizard of all times. Voldemort, descendant of Slytherin on his mother's side, and half Muggle on his father's side, became a powerful and bitter man whose goal, beyond the quest for absolute power, was the eradication of freedom and knowledge in the Wizarding world. Though he was fought by many, it took the combined strength of the Ministry of Magic and the heroic Harry Potter to permanently defeat him. Voldemort was an example of the extent to which half-bloods and Muggle-borns are goaded by resentment. Their source of magic, weaker and tarnished, cannot bestow them the brilliant destiny promised to pure-bloods. Although in previous occasions the governments have tried to incorporate them regardless in everyday life, it is now obvious, following Voldemort's rise and fall, that independently from being unworthy of living in our community, they are also a threat for it.
