A/N: A drabble. Saw my own welcome screen this morning and froze. Thought this up a few minutes ago.

Shine On You Crazy Diamond

By: chocolate rules

Dean opened his email and nearly dropped his coffee right on the laptop. He opened the offending email and this time let out a loud. "No Fucking Way!"

Sam fell out of the bed. And ran over to his brother. He then proceeded to smack Dean on the head and call dibs on the shower.

Needlessly, they headed out; Dean dressed all in black with a white band tied to his arm. Sam dressed normally and worried for his brother's mentally stability.

They stopped down by a river bank. It was actually a very nice location and under any other circumstances, Sam would have asked his brother how he knew of this place.

Sam leaned back against the Impala as he watched his brother make a complete fool of himself. One, Dean never knew the guy, and two he rarely even heard him. Sam had tried to get out of this but then there was a threat and the mentioning of walking and no breakfast and here he was.

"Remember when you were young, you shone like the sun. Now there's a look in your eyes, like black holes in the sky. Shine on you crazy diamond. You were caught on the crossfire of childhood and stardom, blown on the steel breeze." Said Dean as he placed a pink rose that he insisted they stop to buy along the way.

Sam was touched by the words and he could have sworn that he had heard them before. Dean came back to the car, Sam patted him comfortingly on the back and they pilled in.

For the rest of the day, and possibly the rest of the week, Pink Floyd was loudly playing and no amount of pleading would yield Dean's memorial to Syd Barrett.

End.

Author's Background Info: Syd Barrett was a Pink Floyd co-founder in 1965 with Roger Waters, Nick Mason and Richard Wright, and wrote many of the band's early songs. He left the group in 1968 - five years before the release of the band's most popular album, "Dark Side of the Moon" - to be replaced by David Gilmour. He died a few days ago but the band announced it today, the causes were unmeantioned and he was 60 years old.

Dean's little speach was from the band's song 'Shine On, You Crazy Diamond', written about Syd and placed inthe 1975's 'Wish You Were Here'.

Disclaim: Syd, Pink Floyd, 'Shine on You Crazy Diamond and the Winchester brother, and the Mettalicar. Really I practically only owned the words 'and' and 'the' in the drabble. Unless the dictionary or Webster claims onership on them. Then, I own the bandaid on my finger andthat's aabout it.
