Bereavement

Drip drip drip...

She could see the blood, dripping from her fingers... She could see his voice, full of shock, still staring at her... He was part of her...

The ship, it was too much. It wasn't the Pearl, the ship he had loved... It was the Bereavement. And all she could see on it was death, death, death. Jack's face loomed up to her in the darkness, if she leaned forward, she could brush her lips against his, only a second would ease her suffering, her desperation; she had to know if he was alive...

"It's all my fault,"she whispers, tears sliding down her cheeks like the blood down her fingers. "All my fault... I condemned him."

She had thought it best- get him distracted, push him to the post, shackle him to the mast... "I killed him..."

She could still feel his hands around her, his warm breath on her jaw as she had dared to move closer, ever so closer... His face had been an inch from hers- she hadn't flinched. Her heart, her engaged heart, had been pounding so hard she was unable to breathe. And all she could think about was Jack, Jack, Jack. About Will. About all of them. Hadn't she made the best decision?
