Disclaimer: I don't own the tribe or any characters/concepts. they're property of Cloud 9 and etc. (unfortunately) Oh, and I don't own the song I'm not that girl from the musical Wicked.
Hands touch, eyes meet
Sudden silence, sudden heat Hearts leap in a giddy whirl
He could be that boy
But I'm not that girl:
"Ice Maiden?" He has the audacity to call her an ice maiden? She glares at him then watches as he gently reminds her that it was her idea for him to dance with Ebony in the first place. He tells her that she has nothing to worry about. That he has no feelings for Ebony. The only woman he loves is her, and before she knows it, they're kissing, and she's never been happier in her life.
The morning after is perfect. As she wakes to find him by her side, she knows that this was meant to be. How could anything be better than this?
Don't dream too far
Don't lose sight of who you are
Don't remember that rush of joy
He could be that boy I'm not that girl
She angrily storms out of the room. After she had put so much work into the Bill of Rights, he says he's "too tired" to talk to her. The ungrateful…, she wonders to herself if she had been Amber would she have gotten the same response.
Every so often we long to steal
To the land of what-might-have-been
But that doesn't soften the ache we feel
When reality sets back in
She hesitates a moment before inviting him in. When he starts apologizing to her, she feels slightly bad about how immature she had been earlier. Maybe he does really like her. She's so caught up in her thoughts that she barely notices when he asks her about the Bill of Rights. Startled she reminds him that she tore it up and threw it in the bin. She feels even worse about this, but then she sees him give her a sheepish smile before asking "Do you have any sticky tape?"
Blithe smile, lithe limb
She who's winsome, she wins him
Gold hair with a gentle curl
That's the girl he chose
And Heaven knows I'm not that girl:
"No one could ever replace Amber, Danni, even if they tried." She thought back over Salene's words. She had been right. No matter how close she and Bray got, Amber would always be first in his heart. Danni was only the replacement, the person to fill the void until someone else came along, but until then he was hers.
Don't wish, don't start
Wishing only wounds the heart
I wasn't born for the rose and the pearl
There's a girl I know
He loves her so
I'm not that girl:
She thought he had betrayed her when he didn't show up, but he's here now. He came to save her. She sees the rest of the tribe join the fight. She'll be rescued soon, and they can all go back to the mall. Wait. They're not winning. Trying to get to Bray, she discovers that he's already escaping in the dune buggy. He's leaving her. Rage and hurt consume her in she charges forward in a foolish attempt of heroics. Soon there is a blinding pain in her stomach and back. Images of the past weeks with Bray pass through her mind before consciousness leaves her, and she falls to the ground, never to know if they were meant to be.
I finally convinced myself to write a tribe fic. I love the show. I'm totally obsessed with it actually. And the fact that they've just now replaced it with extra episode showings of Edgemont totally bugs me. I mean, it was fine when Edgemont came on after it, but to show twice as much of that show and none of the tribe is so evil!
Oh, well, I'm just going to get the extra channel package for cable that shows channels from other countries. (including one that shows the tribe every day. lol.)
Please R&R. Flames will be read then ignored. (unless they're good flames. then I might listen to them)
Oh, and please go easy. It's my first tribe fic, and it's about a character I really didn't pay that much attention to.
