I See God

By Oonagh

Disclaimer: Not Mine

Author's Note: This is a little different. It's a bit of an experiment and I hesitated before posting it. It is through the eyes of ALL the incarnations of Number 6, as you'll see as you read. I hope it's clear enough. So here it goes…

………………………………………………………………………………………….

I see God in a little baby's broken neck. In his mother's frantic, panicked screams I hear the voice of God promising the future to us.

I see God in Gaius's face as he climaxes, in the control my body exercises over him. I see God working as he betrays his people in return for sex. I see God in every flaw that exists in this man.

I see the face of God in every large mushroom explosion that appears on the horizon. I know that God stalks these twelve colonies, ending the age of humanity, pulling the twisted, corrupted souls out of human after human. I feel God in the powerful explosion that rips through Gaius's house. I even feel God in the death of the body that I wore at the time.

I see God in the naïve gullibility of the man Karl Agathon. It is through him that God will bring about the future. God will use Agathon's progeny to finally remove the need for humanity, to make procreation possible for us. I see God in the face of the tiny baby that is coming.

I see the hand of God in the growing insanity of Admiral Cain. I see God, and smile, as she does our work for us, instilling fear, hatred and insecurity in her crew. I see the will of God behind her decision to abandon her civilian fleet.

I see God in Kara Thrace. I understand why God believes her to be special, despite the weakness of her humanity. I see God clearly in her future, no matter what she thinks.

I see God in Adama's blood as it pools beneath his body. And I see God's hand in his survival. I do not always understand the will of God, the orders He gives, but I have faith and that is enough.

I see my God in the dissension that exists in the human fleet, in the dissension I help exacerbate. I see that His words are true, that humanity – petty, faithless, divided humanity – is unfit to survive. I see God, and laugh, as I watch the acts of terrorism perpetrated by humans against humans.

I see God in the recovery of Laura Roslin. I see God's own blood flow through her veins, keeping her alive. I watch as God takes away their dying leader, the one prophesied to lead them to earth. How can she be the one if she is not dying? And if one part of their scriptures is wrong then how can they believe the rest? I see God in the doubt that these questions give rise to.

I see God at work in the vaunted human philosophy of democracy. His hand is clear in the presidential election that elected Gaius President. And I see God in the decision to stop and hide, to become sitting targets.

And now, I stand in Gaius's office and I see God in the tears that stream from his eyes as he hands over what remains of humanity to us, God's chosen children.

I see God and He is beautiful.
