My Hero!

The villagers were wary, but ready enough to hire the traveling party. Nightly raids had cost them dearly. The youkai attacks must be stopped.

Inuyasha grumbled.

Kagome soothed.

Sango planned.

Shippo postured.

And Miroku introduced himself to the headman's beautiful daughter.

The attack was sudden, and the defenders had to scramble into position.

Inuyasha drew.

Kagome aimed.

Sango mounted.

Shippo braced.

And Miroku regretted introducing himself to the headman's beautiful daughter as she clung to him and begged him to keep her safe.

Shouts rang out, and blows were traded.

Inuyasha cursed.

Kagome stumbled.

Sango dodged.

Shippo panicked.

And Miroku bemoaned his utter helplessness as the headman's beautiful daughter prevented him from fighting alongside his friends.

As the shard-bearing youkai fell, the villagers set up a cheer.

Inuyasha gloated.

Kagome bandaged.

Sango changed.

Shippo strutted.

And Miroku politely accepted the headman's praise and prize on behalf of his friends.

Preparing to resume their journeys, the friends bade farewell to the villagers. None failed to hear the simpering words of the headman's beautiful daughter as she fluttered her eyelashes at Miroku—"My hero!"

Inuyasha smirked.

Kagome blinked.

Sango glowered.

Shippo sniffed.

And Miroku knew he would never live it down.

Author's Note

This drabble was created for a weekly contest in the Live Journal community iyficcontest, Week 67 – Hero Theme. It is a small piece of history as it marks my first foray into the world of fan fiction. May these small beginnings lead to interesting places.
