"Kiba-kun?" a small, timid voice echoed softly into the bare room. Kiba's head shot up from his pillow, staring at the girl in his door way. Getting out of the bed, Kiba yawned loudly, sluggishly making his way to the door.
"Hinata, do you even know what time it is?" Kiba growled in an irritated dog-like sense, yet his sleep deprived eyes shone of adoration for the girl. Blushing, Hinata dropped her gaze to the floor, only to find Akamaru gazing fondly at her. Smiling, she picked him up as Akamaru took a playful like stance and started licking Hinata's face.
After being in that comfortable position for awhile, Hinata let Akamaru down, her hands trembling noticeably. Her skin was even a bit pale then usual, Kiba noted with worry and concern.
The girl who had tried so hard to stand for herself was now shaking like a frightened puppy.
Taking her cold, shaken hands in his, Kiba's frown turned deeper when he felt how cold she really was. He then realized that she was sick. Eyes widening, Kiba ushered Hinata to the bed.
"Hinata, do you not like thunderstorms?" Kiba asked roughly, yet with a gentle caress in his voice, seeing as she cringed when a boom was heard from outside.
Nodding weakly, she spoke sheepishly, "I've just had some bad experiences, Kiba-kun." Then she coughed sharply, and Kiba could almost smell the bile coming from her throat with his sharp nose. Wincing, he held tightly onto Hinata, rubbing her back softly.
"Do not worry, Hinata. You have me," Kiba offered strongly, tucking Hinata into the warm and comfy bed. Her shaking has lessened by a great amount, making Kiba happy that he could help.
"Arigato, Kiba-kun," Hinata smiled sweetly, before drifting away into a light sleep, her frequent tremors slowing down a bit. Kiba blushed as he walked to the abandoned couch, his heart feeling warm inside. He watched as Akamaru jumped onto the bed and curled up close beside Hinata's head.
Hinata was able to sleep that night because she had a dear friend who cared for her deeply. Kiba wished so much that Hinata would directly come to him first instead of that annoying little blonde-haired gaki.
"You have me, Hinata," Kiba whispered confidently, before also drifting to sleep.
He would make Naruto pay for not being there when she needed him most… tomorrow.
They both slept soundly through the rest of the night knowing they had each other.
