"Jack in the box"

By Old Scout.

The coffin sized crate had settled with a slow thump on the bottom of the ocean. Angel stared out the plexiglass window. It must not be too deep he thought or the window would have caved in. He'd drifted in and out of sleep but knew he hadn't been down here very long; he still wasn't feeling extremely hungry.

Something bumped the side of the box. Angel's hopes soared for a moment. Perhaps Conner had come to his senses. There was light tapping on the top of the box. It wasn't Conner, he could tell. It must be some sea creature investigating the new arrival. Something moved in the window. Angel blinked as something yellow came into view. Small arms reached out and tapped on the glass.

"Hi there!" The creature said in a high pitched voice.

Angel stared at what looked like a bright yellow sponge with a mouth in the middle. Now he knew he'd been down here a lot longer then he'd thought.

"I'm SpongeBob." The creature said. "What's your name?"

Trying to ignore the creature, Angel said nothing.

"I know." SpongeBob said with a big smile. "I'll call you Jack. Get it? Jack in a box. Are you moving in down here or just visiting? We don't get a lot of visitors from up above. Except for Sandy Cheeks. She's my friend."

Angel continued to try to ignore the creature.

"Hey, do you want to hear a song?"

He couldn't help it; he made the mistake and made eye contact with the creature.

"Great." SpongeBob said and burst into song."

"Do your ears hang low?
Do they wobble to and fro?
Can you tie em in a knot?
Can you tie em in a bow?
Can you throw em over your shoulder like a continental soldier?
Do your ears hang low?"

As he sang, a pair of long rabbit like ears extended out of the top of SpongeBob's head and mimicked the words to the song.

"Second verse same as the first, only a little bit fast and a whole lot worse." SpongeBob announced and began singing again this time he included marching around the window in step to the words of the song.

Angel groaned. "I'm in hell again."

The End.

AN1:Yes, this is a crossover with SpongeBob Squarepants owned by the Nickelodean channel.
AN2:The song is an old camp fire song and I could not find any reference to a copy write holder to this version.
