Declan stirred painfully. 'What the fuck happened to me?' He looked around. 'White walls, white sheets and the sick smell disinfectant smell. Oh where could I be?' He thought sarcastically. Then he saw her. Miranda's head lay on the bed, her hair messily scattered on the sheets. Her tear streaked face was covered in her messed up hair. Her tired eyes were closed peacefully.
Lately he had become worried about her. His poor friend tried so hard. She had little time and the last time he walked in he saw a pile high on her desk. She tried to pretend she was okay but it was clear to him the stress of her workload was getting to her. And now he was in hospital! He watched her peaceful breathing. Should he wake her?
No. She needed it. He came to his decision. He stroked her cheek almost lovingly.
He was woken from his musings as she stirred sleepily. She mumbled incoherently before noticing him. She looked stunned and a faint blush crept onto her cheek.
"I didn't mean to wake you." He quickly said.
"It's okay. I didn't mean to fall asleep." She replied.
"What happened?" she asked concern on her face.
"I didn't see the other car coming toward me." He sheepishly replied.
"Are you okay?"
"I will be once I get out of this dammed hospital!" he grumbled.
She smiled and hugged him. Abit taken aback he didn't respond until a minute later. He returned the hug. "Don't worry. I'll be okay Miranda." He whispered in her left ear.
She didn't reply but relaxed in his grip. They stayed like that until the nurse came in and told her to leave.
Peggy watched from behind the glass walls of the room as the doctor checked his memory to see if it had affected his brain. Peggy walked in. "Hi"
Declan smiled "Hi"
Something seemed wrong. But she let it pass. "I'll visit you later"
