Close, But Not Quite

"I'm telling you Gin, there is something going on."

"Really Harry?" She sighed, trying hard not to roll her eyes at his theatrics.

"Yes, I've been telling you for days, I can't believe you haven't picked up on it yet. There is definitely something going on between Hermione and Malfoy."

"Alright then, what is going on exactly?"

"Well he's always looking at her lately. And it's not the usual glare that he has for me, it's almost friendly, and then when she looks at him he winks at her, and then she blushes and turns away. You haven't noticed that?"

"Can't say I have," she said.

"You don't think they're shagging or something?" He shuddered, "I don't think I could bear it if Hermione was shagging Malfoy."

"I don't think she is, but if she is it's none of our business."

"Of course," he said quickly, "I just don't like the sod."

"I know honey."

"You know what, I'm going to go find Hermione and suss out what is happening. Just have to know for sure," he quickly hopped up, "I'll see you later…"

"Harry! Just leave… it alone." She finished as she watched he walk quickly out of the Great Hall. "Great."

He was on a mission. He was going to find Hermione. And he was going to figure out what was happening between her and Malfoy for sure. Not that he really had a problem with Hermione having a relationship of her own, after her and Ron had gave it a go, and very quickly realised it wasn't for them, Ron had had a parade of girls on his arm. So it was only right that Hermione was allowed the same liberties, she was a free agent, able to do as she pleased and if it was with Malfoy. Well, he would have to accept it and move on.

So intent he was on his path, he didn't notice a door in front of him opening and a tall figure coming out, until he collided head on, and fall backwards onto the floor.

Rubbing the back of his head, he accepted the hand that was offered to help him up.

"Thanks Zabini," he said, "Came out of nowhere you did."

"No worries Potter," straightening his tie, "Maybe watch where you're heading next time, yeah?"

"Sure thing," Harry mumbled, moving around him. For some reason no one made him feel as insecure as the Head Boy. And for that reason he tended to avoid him like the plague.

Setting off on his way again, he realised he would know where Hermione was, she was Head Girl of course, so it was only logical that he would know. Turning back around, he went back the way he had came, this time he saw the door opening, and managed to avoid another embarrassing accident.

"Oh hi Harry!" Hermione said, "Didn't see you there."

"That's alright, no damage done this time." Then he realised something, "Wasn't Zabini in there as well, did you have a meeting or something?"

"Yeah… Head business," she smiled.

"Oh, of course." Taking a deep breath, "I don't want to ask this, but I need to know, you aren't… you aren't shagging Malfoy are you?"

She laughed, "Malfoy?" Shaking her head, "No I'm not shagging Malfoy, whatever gave you that crazy idea?"

"Nowhere," he laughed, "I don't know what I was thinking."

"Oh Harry," looping her arm through his, "Let's go to dinner."

He was relieved, so very relieved. She wasn't shagging Malfoy. There was nothing to worry about.
