Title: Endless Sorrow
Warnings: OOCness, Fluff
I dunno where this came from. I love Midori and Ai, I really do. There should be more of them.
Ai sat alone on a park bench, looking down at the ground. Her hands clenched at her pants, ignoring the people who passed by her, giving her strange looks.
'I let Midori down…' Her mind kept repeating. 'Because of my carelessness he was restricted. He was in pain.' She remembered the chain around his wrist, his face contorted in pain.
She didn't look up.
"Ai? What's wrong?" Midori took a seat next to her. "Tell me?" He put an arm around her shoulders, a worried expression was on his face.
"Just go away…" She shrugged his arm off her and the tears she was struggling to hold back slid down her cheeks.
One hand still clutched at the fabric of her pants while the other arm came up to wipe the tears off her face. "You deserve a better fighter."
The green eared boy's eyes widened. "What do you mean?"
"I let you down," she sobbed, "Because of me you could have gotten seriously hurt."
Midori sighed. "Ai, we both knew when getting into this that Soubi was strong. Besides, I'm fine. Aren't I?"
She nodded. "Still…" Ai wiped a few more stray tears away.
"Still nothing." He gently took her chin between his fingers, bringing her face up to look at him. "Don't worry." He leaned in and kissed her softly. Midori took her hand that had their name etched in it, into his own hand. "Ai…" He waited for her to look him in the eyes. "I couldn't imagine being with anyone else."
For the first time since their last encounter with Soubi, Ai smiled.
Sort and sweet. -smiles- I hope you enjoyed!
