on my livejournal, i once had a meme that, basically, asked for a "five things that..." list that i would fill out in a fanfictiony way. "Five ways that Paine shows affection," "five of Rikku's favourite ice-cream flavours," whatever. one friend of mine suggested, "Five reasons Baralai is better than Tidus," which was mean of her because i love them both. (laugh) here's the resulting drabble.

five reasons baralai is better than tidus.
"And if you look at it this way, Baralai's probably a lot less likely to get his head stuck in pots," Rikku points out thoughtfully. Paine resists the urge to slap her palm against her forehead. When she had suggested that they delicately try to convince Yuna that it was okay to date someone other than Tidus, this wasn't exactly what she had had in mind.
After that awkward pause's end: "Ooooh, Yunie, he doesn't have to bleach his hair, either!"
He's more patient, that's for sure. At least, Baralai's far less prone to start chatting up every stranger he sees and examining each nook and cranny for "treasure" when he's supposed to be waiting quietly.
"Also, it would be a lot harder to make Tidus snap and try to kill Nooj!"
Paine has to ask. "You consider that a good trait?"
He won't ever vanish, either, and to Yuna that's the most important of all.
